| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 29, 2007 Appearance: Pours a dark, reddish-brown body with a frothy, though thinning off-white head.
Smell: A prodigiously twangy, fruity aroma with cherries, grapes, lemons, etc.
Taste: Some faint dark caramel sweetness with just a pinch or two of cocoa powder against the backdrop of tart fruitiness. Wood and a little bit of pine show on the altogether sweet, thin finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A beer that left me wanting more depth and character and less, much less tart fruitiness. milewide (620), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Aroma of dark fruits, aged caramel, burnt toast, and sprinkled pepper. Flavors of pipe tobacco, caramel, ripe cherries, and perhaps a touch of fire wood. Thin mouthfeel and the alcohol heat shines through every swallow. This is just ok. unclemattie (2439), Georgia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 21, 2007 Dark caramel color with beige head (like the head) looks pretty in glass. Smells of lemons and other citrus with yeast. Sweet and bitter, it balances on the tongue. Tasting slight sour overtones. Really like the flavor of this ale strong in my mouth. Hits me hard as is flows down my throat. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Sampled at KPs. We tried to get Gez over to try the olde big dicks but she wouldn’t budge. A copper colored beer. The aroma is caramel, toffee, and dark fruit. Flavor contains some alcohol notes along with some carmael, chocolate, and toffee. A somewhat yeasty presence to the beer. A little thin for the style but not bad. radiomgb (2070), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Very rich copper in colour, long lasting creamy off-white coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is fairly soft and floral, some cheese, yeast and light spice, some light toffee. The flavour has some light yeast, cheese, alcohol, light sweet caramel malts, floral hops. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes smooth, creamy, medium length. This didn’t really offer me much, really thin overall.

Sweet malt and alcohol on the nose. Raisins and prunes as well. Fairly lush and creamy on the palate. Malty sweetness gives way to a hint of sour grapes. Alcohol dominates the finish. Too thin and boozy for my tastes.
