| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Bottle... Dark, hazy, near burnt-orange ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Great retention. The nose is perfumey and floral with vinous esters and notes of toffee & tobacco... also, a whisper of camphor. Hearty caramel and chocolate malt flavor with esters of port wine and toffee with mild acidity. Moderately bitter; moderately sweet. Full-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Lengthy, alcohol-bitter, warming finish. Kudos to vyvvy for sending the bottle my way! smhncabot (310), Cabot, Arkansas, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 20, 2007 Lightly hazed umber color, that reveals some orange when held to the light. Small lid of beige bubbles. Very light aromas with stewed plums and prunes. Some hints of floral hops. Fairly zippy in feel, but still enough heft to keep it feeling watery. Light sweet fruit in the start with just a hint of rum. Continues to get drier the further in the swallow. Flavors of almonds and pecans set atop the fruit cake. Woody in the finish. More a strong ale than an old ale, but middle of the road either way. Frauditor (148), Hagerstown, Maryland, USA

This is the least strong of their "Big Beer Series," so I’m not taking the chance of cellaring too long. Pours dark reddish brown, little to no head. Warm alcohol and malt smell. Taste is slightly tart; mostly fruity warm-fermented ale taste, thick caramel malt, almost chewy. Light hop balance. Picked up in December that Arcadia’s 10th anniversary celebration.
