| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Pours dark brown with essentially no head. Flavors of oak, chocolate, vanilla bean, bourbon was minor note and not that apparent. Malty upfront but finish is kind of dry and body light, with oily mouthfeel. I expected a little more robustness out of this one, just an ok brew. Jayb0 (752), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 23, 2008 I am not sure what the deal is but this is my second offering from Arcadia and again, I am underwhelmed, and opposite the generally positive reviews. Maybe it is the house character, but this beer was just ok, whisky seemed up front and overshadowing. I love whisky but I feel this is an attempt to hide a weak backing beer. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Poured black with a brown head. Oak and bourbon aroma. Big dose of bourbon flavor up front. Very sweet and perhaps a bit cloying. Notes of vanilla and caramel. Boozy. A bit over the top with the bourbon and vanilla. Not very balanced. TeamTrappist (412), jericho, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 9, 2008 Tap at Barcade.Poured a very dark brown.Spicy nose. Flavor was spice and wheat. Did I get a bad pour? As I was unable to finish a 10 oz pour. Was very disjointed like the parts didn’t sum up the whole. Didn’t really notice the bourbon or much else. Might need to revisit, or not. krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2008 bomber. black in color with a tan head that forms thick and tall. the aroma reminds me of a coffee shop. chocolate and coffee are the strongest players. a little vanilla is also present. the body and mouthfeel suggest hot chocolate gone cold. sweet upfront, but with a dry finish. the effects of the barrel aging is apparent. smooth pallet, sweet vanilla, caramel, with a touch of coffee. ketchepillar (488), Des Moines/Grinnell, Iowa, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Bomber purchased 1/08. Lots of sweet salty toffee in the aroma. Palate is slightly thin, but pretty good. Flavor: a bit odd, slightly acidic, the barrel aging comes through with lots of caramel & toffee. Candy sweetness. Finishes nicely bitter & dry. Chocolate. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2008 Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of sweet malt, oak, boozy bourbon. Tastes of sweet malt, sugar, some dry oaky qualities, some bourbon notes on the finish. Decent. alexsdad06 (1106), Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma is dark moderately roasted malts, dark fruits, bourbon, oak/wood with moderate sweetness. The flavor has a fairly large amount of bourbon and wood. The roasted malt is there, but not in the forefront. Medium bodied at best, very smooth drinking. I’m not sure how old the bottle was.
