From the bomber, this pours a thick brown liquid that blackens in the glass. The creamy tan head leaves lots of lace in its wake. At first I detected a light lactic sourness in the aroma, but that cleared, leaving a sweet Bourbon smell supported by lightly roasted dark malt and a bit of milk chocolate. It’s pretty highly carbonated for the style, but drinkable. In the flavor you’re first hit by the Bourbon, then the dark malt, then some bittersweet chocolate, a touch of wood, and then some more Bourbon. It finishes with a light charcoal bitterness and a touch more of Bourbon. Not bad.

22oz bottle. Overcarbonated but not a gusher, just pouring tall and quick into the glass and then needing to settle out. Large cola bubbles in a dark brown head, along with a funk in the nose say infection, but it’s a mild infection and it seems to have affected the entire bottling from the ratings and scores here. The nose has some medium levels of sweet bourbon, some chocolate syrup and some acidic, yeast butter notes. Slick, oily palate with flavors of toffee and chocolate in the finish, and some twangy sweet bourbon and acidic grains.

Pours a dark black with a thin beige head. Aroma dominated by whiskey but also has hints of chocolate and coffee. The bourbon barrel aging results in a strong whiskey presence that is accompanied by malty chocolate, coffee, dark fruit and vanilla flavors. Very tasty!

Roasted, sweet aroma on this black/brown pour. Tastes of malt whiskey, dark roasted coffee with some chocolate. It was smooth and went down easy.

Pour is a jet black with a tan head. Aroma is earthy and bourbon with some chocolate and peat. Flavor is not as intense as the flavor but there is a bourbon burn and a little vanilla and chocolate. Finish is a little sour and leaves a nice roasted malt on the tounge. One of the more expensive beers this brewer puts out but well worth looking for.
