Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of over ripe fruit, berries, and bourbon that sting in the nose. The flavor has notes of wood, bourbon, vegetables, on a slightly acidic back ground - probably from very hard roasted malt, which is what the finish is dominated by. The alcohol burns sligthtly in the mouth and warms up the cheeks.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of markgugs. Pours a dark brown with a vague reddish hue and a beige head. Lightly tart aroma with bourbon notes showing. Medium body, lots of roasted malt and sweet vanilla. Dried fruit and weak touches of bourbon before a subdued bitterness. If this was infected - which I don’t really believe - then it was in a most spectacular way! 070907

Blind tasting at sk8vikings porter / stout tasting, beer no 15. Pours dark brown with a red hue and a lacing light brown head. Alcohol heavy and sour nose. Flavour is slight sour, malty, toothpaste, slight off. Slight roasted. Alcohol warming finish and a persisting slight off note lingering on top of a malt flavour.

Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Very dark brown, coarse beige head. Oaky vanilla aroma. Oaky vanilla flavour. Sweet and medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Oaky vanilla finish. Well, one nice flavour does not equal a good beer. What seems so promising at first is a one way street.

Bottle. Dark brown coloured with a beige ehad. Light roasted aroma of wood, vanilla and red wine. Flavour of wood, vanilla, chocolate and red wine with notes of liquorice and roasted notes. Tastes like something in between a flemish sour and a porter.

(22oz bottle) Small tan head atop a black-cola body. Aroma is moderately sweet, alcohol/bourbon, vanilla. Taste is moderately sweet, alcohol/bourbon, light nut, alcohol warming. The bourbon characteristics were harsh and overpowering, leaving little of the underlying beer. They also seemed like they came from inferior bourbon. Light-medium body.
