22 oz bottle 12/27/07: Deep coppery brown w/a thick, lasting , light beige head. Acetic green apple aroma was first to hit my nose, then a grainy, tannic malt aroma. Caramel and toasty malt follow as it warms along w/ a light alcohol solventy note. HInts of raisins and figs as well as diacetyl. The flavor is toasty w/ a gren apple flavor up front when chilled. Medium caramel, well balanced hop/malt bitter/sweet wise. Semi sweet up front w/ grainy malt flavors, and finishes well balanced when warmed. bready malt aftertaste w/ strong caramel mid palate into the finish. Caramel apple flavor in the finish when warmed as well. Velvety smooth m/f. Well hidden alcohol in the flavor, fuller medium body, and lighter medium carbonation. Nice beer, but could use some age IMHO to mellow the green apple and acidic character. Warming helps, but just delays the inevitable. Goes well w/ sharp cheddar and oddly enough a mild blue like Cambozola.

Slightly hazy with brilliant red and orange highlights. Creamy tan head with excellent lace. Pine and raisins and alcohol aromas. Sweet flavor, some chocolate and dark cherries, more focused on fruit and malt than hops while still having a nicely balanced bitterness.

22 oz bottle. Pours bronze colored and cloudy with a thin head that does not last. Aromas of wheat and root beer. Very sweet. Hops are there, but do not come close to balancing out this beer. This is an ok sipping beer now, but I fear what will happen by the end of the bottle.

Bottle procured Halftime. Pours a deeper brown...nearly tea-like with a yeasty head that slowly settles. dy is medium and sweet. some tofee coated malts and faint fruit make up the body. Hops are in control and compliment themalts and do not dominate. Overall this barleywine was nice to sip while reading, but wasn’t a woldshaker. It will be nice to pull off the shelf if youdont want something too heavy.

Solid barleywine offering. Caramel and toffee notes. Also some alchol mixed with a nice hop aroma. Flavor is all the same but a bit sweet.

Had this on handpull at Ashleys in Ann Arbor. So, the taste was probably much different than normal. Room temperature. Nice tan head. Creamy and rich, hops hidden behind a wall of sweet malt. Big full body. Nice rich treat. I think a handpull suits this beer very well.

Really nice garnet-amber color, with a nice but small white head. Head fades fast. Aroma is sweet malt and hot alcohol. No apparent hops. Flavor is very sweet upfront, followed by more fusel alcohols, coming across as very solvent like. Finish is bitter alcohol and some sweet malt. Body is full and smooth.
