Sweet aroma of caramel malt, alcohol, dark fruit, some faint oaky bourbon and light hops. First thing I notice with the flavour is how easy and smooth it goes down, for a Barley Wine with a 9% abv there’s little alcohol presence here. Starts with lots of sweet caramel malt along with dark fruit, some light oak and some hops in the slightly alcoholic finish. Medium bodied. Flavour could use a bit more hops in my opinion but this was still quite good, I easily drank the whole bomber. merlin48 (522), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA

Aroma of caramel, green apples, and booze. Medium body, low carbonation and a syrupy feel. Taste is malty caramel, warming alcohol, dark fruits, and red apples. Average for style. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Bottle: Ruby caramel and nice head, sticky nice lacing. Nose of sweet fruity hops and alcohol, plenty of chewy malts. Moderate alcohol. The finish is malty, hot, not that complex and a bit too brash. Hangover (772), Atlanta, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Impressive ruby-garnet color with a lasting tan head. Sweet aroma with dark fruit and a nice blast of hops. Medium bodied, carbonation is pretty high for a barleywine. Fairly warm initially, lots of dark fruit, cherry, plum, sugary sweetness, citrus hops towards the finish. Bitter finish. Maybe just a bit too sweet, but it’s a good brew. jwdevalue (158), Neptune, New Jersey, USA

Upon tasting, the mouthfeel is very creamy and syrupy, like you’d expect from a barleywine. The dominant flavor here is the syrupy-sweet fruitiness. Its heavy, but enjoyable. After smelling this beer, I was not let down on the flavor. The beer finishes with bitter hops. Unfortunately something just is appealing about the finish. I love hops, but this bitterness is more dry, and less citrusy-floral. Overall, I really enjoyed this one, but the finish kept it from being really great. I drank it fairly warm, so maybe the bitterness would’ve been abated at lower temps. SoLan (1427), Orlando, Florida, USA
