very smooth, malty, deceivingly high in alcohol content, this beer sneaks up you very pleasantly, lulling you to sleep with its caramel and malt, yet not overpowering you with its hops and alcohol level. A very drinkable, very nice malty not over the top barleywine that is ready to drink now. Cant see how this one could get better with aging as it is very pleasant now.

Bottle... Clear, deep, dark, orange ale with a small, frothy, tan head. Vinous, resinous nose of caramel, red wine, fig or date, cocoa and persimmon. Malty-sweet, but then boozy and bitter with flavors of port and cookie. Full-bodied and oily with prickly carbonation. Dark fruit, moderately bitter, dry finish. Hey, vyvvy, thanks for floating me the bottle!

Tasty and sweet. Red/brown colour with no head in my glas. Caramel seemed to mke up quite a bit of the sweeness. Lightly balanced out by some hop bitterness. Heavy palate.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a mahogany color with a large brown head. The aroma was sweet and tangy with a fruity hop element and a hint of caramel. The flavor was sweet malts, caramel and light fruity hops underneath. The mouthfeel was fairly thick as expected from a barleywine. It hides the alcohol reasonably well.

Bottle courtesy of hopdog! Thick murky mahogany and ruby pour. Firm, tall tan head. Aroma is sweet with sweet malts, soft cocoa, caramel, light hops and light alcohol. Taste is a bit sweeter with soft brown sugar, caramel, sweet malts, light alcohol and mild hops. Very tasty! Body is medium-full with moderate but creamy carbonation and light alcohol warmth. Finishes with more caramel and brown sugar, sweet malts, soft hops, alcohol, and cocoa. Sticky towards the end. Very tasty barleywine. Wish I had some Stilton to taste with this.

Bomber: has a dark ruby pour with a off-white head, scents of malt and some dark malt, faint chocolate, caramel-molasses and faint sweet cola fragrances, faint hop fragrance, syrupy full mouth feel, taste of sweet and lots of malt, brown sugar and bread, alcohol warming with each sip, mild + hop bite, this Barleywine was more on the malt side of the menu, the hops second, this falls into the English style Barleywine catagory.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma is lightly sweet. Vinous, malty scent has hints of caramel, chocolate, bourbon, oak, and dark fruits. Poured a ruby/copper color with a medium tan head that diminished. Cloudy. Many particles. Flavor is medium bitter but not sweet or tart. Starts out with dark fruits; in the middle it tastes of chocolate, herbs, wood, and bourbon; in the end it is salty with alcoholic flavor. Medium body. Slick texture. Average carbonation. Long salty finish. Overall, a disappointing barley wine.
