| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 24, 2009 Bottle. Moderate aromas of dark bread and milk chocolate for the malt, cooked orange and perfume for the hops, beef broth for the yeast, and background notes of brown sugar and alcohol. Head is small, creamy, off-white, with fair lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky brown. Flavor is moderately sweet and acidic to start, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium to full, oily to syrupy, has a soft carbonation and is alcoholic and a little dry in the finish. Pretty good balance in the flavors and a very nice texture make this an above average Barley Wine for me. Gethinbeer (1003), Nova Scotia, Canada

Chestnut colour with a thin off white head. Rich syrup like flavour. Full bodied ale. Caramel, spice, liquorice, fruit and wood chippings. All very complex. Great creation. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 2, 2009 Deep murky hazy brownish coloured body with a light tan head that fades very fast. Aroma of potent sugars, malt, yeast and alcohol of course - nice and bright. Full-bodied; Strong assertive sugar and malt flavours up front with a very potent alcohol and peat flavour tucked in with some sugars. Aftertaste potent from the hops, and very bittered from the alcohol - you can’t get away from it. Overall, a strong and not so mild alcohol flavour that lasts indefinitely. Probably worth trying if you like high ABV beers, but the size of the bottle and the alcohol percentage aren’t great. I sampled this 65 cL (why do they still make them this large?) bottle purchased from Kybecca on 31-May-2008, sampled on 02-May-2009 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. shanepardue (107), Raytown, Missouri, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Apr 30, 2009 Very fruity and strong. Not as rich as some of my favorite barleywines, but not bad. brewblackhole (1381), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Alcohol, hops, and cola, and a little raisin, all very much on the light side,,to light for a barleywine, taste is much boldersmooth caramely body is big, almost syrupy, but not that heavy in flavor, kudos because this almost feels like cask conditioned,an anise and hop finish. You can see the English bias here, if its your first beer of the day,its great,if not ,you may perceive it as weak
