| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 6, 2008 In short: A smooth and light floury milk chocolate in a bottle. Acceptable.
How: Bottle 22oz. Shared on the “Stone-Bourbon-Barrel-RIS-Hype-And-Disappointment” tasting session with the Montreal crew
The look: Black body with a small tan head
In long: Nose is cacao and an unsuspected oak-ish sourness. Weird. Some floury chocolate cake with, some light vinous touches, some dark toffee and some lactic notes. Smooth body. Not a lot of roasted flavours in this one. Overall a very simple beer. And please someone please explain to me why for their label they used a picture of my cousin Louis the day lap dancing was ruled illegal in Canada.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2008 Super deep brown coloured body with a thinnish light brown head. Aroma of cherries, molasses, ginger, roasted malt and a very heavy dose of licorice. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong alcohol taste up front with a good malt backbone and a bunch of deep spices showing afterwards with star anise the most common. Aftertaste shows some malt, alcohol and a lot of spice still. Overall, a very nice beer - very sweet but obviously a lot of spices stand out! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Kybecca in Fredericksburg, Virginia on 02-June-2008. bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2008 This is a basically black beer. Creamy/tan head. It has a very sweetish/chocolate/coffee smell. Wow the taste is just ridiculous! Very chocolaty and it has a ridiculously potant coffee taste and after taste!!!!! | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2008 Updated: Feb 13, 2009Bottle thanks to mreusch, thanks Matt. Poured a deep brown color with a thin off-white head that diminished to a ring and left a bit of lacing. Aroma of chocolate, light roast, and a hint of fruit. Sweet, light fruitiness with some chocolate maltiness lead into a light, dry roasty finish. A bit thin on the palate, but it has a nice drying character. Much different than I expected, but it was still a decent brew. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 30, 2008 12 oz bottle: Pours like used oil with a creamy, mocha-colored head. Sweet chocolate is the name of the game upon first whiff. Lots of brownie batter, sweet fudge and milk chocolate. The body starts bitter, with a nice rindy orange bite. The chocolate takes over and lots of cocoa and fudge notes emerge. Hoppy and chocolately all the way through. An interesting beer that I am glad that I tried once. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2008 Dark brown color with a filmy white head. Mild aroma shows hints of cocoa, vanilla and sour milk. Flavor has decent balance and some depth. Better than expected. mreusch (743), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 29, 2008 12oz. bottle with thanks to Gregis for this nice surprise! Pours a clear dark brown with a creamy two finger dark tan head, minor lacing. Aroma is lactose, milk chocolate, and coffee. Flavor is mostly the lactose and light chocolate. The flavor is more simplified than I’d hope, but a decent, easy drinking stout. I guess I’m also learning I’m just not a big fan of lactose. Thanks again Greg!
