Pours a very dark brown the a semi foamy/frothy light brown head. Big aromas of chocolate, with caramel behind it and some molasses. The flavor is different than expected. There is this kind of balance between the hops and the chocolate which in mine and I think many others opinions shouldn’t be because these flavors just don’t sit right together. I can also taste some barely if not much, which is also unusual of a stout especially at the abv. Hehe. After drinking round half the 22 oz bottle can finally notice a little molasses and cocoa but faintly because of the other distracting flavors...... Should be much less on the hops and barley and more on the malts!! Semi sweet and bitter.

Pours pitch black with a foamy coffee-colored head. Roasted chocolate malty aroma with hints of coffee and caramel. Very smooth roasted malty flavor with a sweet creamy chocolate center and a bitter roasted coffee finish. Also, hints of toffee and caramel.

Dark brown chock full of suspended particles and has a medium mocha topper that streaks lace. Chocolate, sweet malt, cocoa, molasses and something sweet, perhaps oatmeal dominate the aroma. Taste of cocoa, lactose, dark roasted malt, licorice, molasses and light alcohol. Creamy body gives way to a mild hop finish.

12oz bottle from The Lighthouse in Manchester, Maine. Pours an opaque black body with a thin film of tan head. Smells nutty, somewhat chocolatey, maybe some banana? Tastes like chocolate for sure, sweet, some caramel malt, somewhat nutty, some vineous/raisin qualities. Chocolate dominates though. Super-smooth medium to full in body with ample carbonation. No alcohol apparent anywhere. A super-tasty, well-crafted American stout, one I have difficulty finding much wrong with. Very good. Definitely one I’ll be snagging again should I see it again.

Straight pour reveals a huge head - watch out for that. The aroma is dusty sweet with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is milder than expected with touches of chocolate and coffee accented by a smooth and creamy mouthfeel.

Out of a 22 oz bottle...Pours a big, thick light brown head that is so creamy it looks like pudding. So dark brown that it is practically black. The smell is bitter chocolate oils. The alcohol is apparent in the aroma. Mocha bitterness and some sweetness. Some Kahlua-like oily chocolate, but without any hint of licorice. Bready and nutty. Bitter burnt mocha malt. Really dark. Leaves a really nice, nutty hazelnut aftertaste. Combination of burnt and nutty flavors. Chocolate and breakfast blend coffee. Wonderfully dry and bitter. The feel is dry but oily and slick. Thick and tremendous. It’s a heavy and really outstanding chocolate stout. Sweet, dry, bitter, nutty and everything in between. Excellent.

Black with a lasting light brown head. Weak aroma of chocolate and a little alcohol. Sweet milk chocolate flavour with a vodka-like alcohol note.
