Aroma of baking cocoa and light roasted malt. Had a sour coffee and chocolate taste that seemed just a bit off. goldtwins (4081), Nesconset, New York, USA

Coffee filled aroma with some mild chocolate notes. The flavor was roasty with mild dark bitter chocolate notes. Hoppy finish and a good warmth. Medium to full bodied. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 30, 2007 Dark chocolate nose, huge malt also, Darkest brown, pours a small, short lived toffee head. Flavour is a tasty chocolate/mocha, malts are very good too. Light bodied, balanced, sweet/bitter. Quite good. Great name. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 30, 2007 Pours to a really dark brown body with a thin medium brown head. The aroma is milk chocolate, cocoa powder everywhere, and some light spruce hops. The flavor is chocolate with some strong pine/spruce hops. The palate is dry and cocoa-powder-like. A decent brew. Black as an abyss with a foamy tan head. The chocolate nose was a sweet milk chocolate joined with roasted malt, coconut, weak coffee, and toffee. Medium body with a smooth feel. The flavor held definite chocolate notes but not a quality chocolate and too sweet. With the name chosen, it should have had rich, dark chocolate and Dutch cocoa flavors. It did not. Pungent coccoa & alcohol aroma some basic grains. Palate is pretty avg. Flavor is heavily roasted some lactose and lots of cocohs w/ a touch of alcohol. Ok. Ofortuna (322), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2007 Good time to open this beer as the infection it was carrying just started to take over. Poor head retention, thin on the appearance. A slightly creamy texture with notes of cocoa noted. Some decent malt complexity, but quite average. Notes of molasses and toasted oatmeal on a finish that was a bit too acidic and dry from the ensuing bacteria present.
