8/03/2007: Arcadia Cocoa Loco is nearly black with a dark tan frothy head. The aroma is bitter dark chocolate and the flavor is yeasty blend of chocolate and fruit with some roasty malt that ends a bit of a coffee-like flavor. Overall this is pretty tasty, but like many other Arcadia beers, it could have been better...

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a tan head. The aroma is sweet malty and very roasted, combined with notes of chocolate, and a light acidity from the hard roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with tons of chocolate - a very dark and bitter chocolate, but also strong notes of roasted malt, and lighter notes of hops. The finish is very dry, roasted, and bitter.

Draft. This stout is intense. Pours a deep midnight black. The sweet maltiness is huge. There is no denying that this is a chocolate stout. It’s so insane, I don’t know how to best sum it up in words. I think this beer deserves further research. {insert evil laughter}

Bottle from Party Source, KY. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee, nuts and dark chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium burnt sweet coffee flavor with a medium dark chocolate bittersweet finish of average duration.

Bottle at Chris_o Shindig. Black, lasting tan head. Lovely aroma of cocoa choc. Decent hop. Molasses, wood, bit lactic even. Sweetish. It’s got good choc, bit one dimensional, strong hop unbalances it. 3.2/5.0 Re-rate 2006 Bottle at Chris_o pre GBBF Shindig 08. Aroma of choc and molasses. Good choc. Lacks a bit of fullness in mouth. Simple but nice.

Bottle@chris_o. Chocolate and moccha aroma. Black, beige head, good lace. Light lactic, milky, chocolate, light bitterness. Medium full and soft body.

Bottled - Chris O Shindig 2007 - A black, slightly oily looking beer. The aroma is chocolatey and there is a hint of sourness. The taste is chocolatey but there’s some hop hits also. There is a little roastiness and lots of flavour. Nice and quite porterish.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris O’s Shindig. Black body with a tan head. Coffee malt aroma. Smoky and chunky. Flavour follows on from the aroma but is slightly better. Coffee again, lovely tangy malt and heavy chocolate but not overly sweet. Very pleasant woody notes too. More coffee in the finish. Almost great but just not quite there.
