Caramel, fruits, hops and alcohol in the nose. Quite full-bodied with a solid malt base that balances the distinct bitterness and alcohol rather nicely. But perhaps the hop profile is not the most sophisticated. 210908 MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Having tried a few other Arcadia ales, I was weary to buy a four-pack of this one. However, when Binny’s started breaking this up into single bottles, I decided what the hell. Pours amber with a sticky head. Nose is of lots of great hops, and some astringent. Nice piney, citrus hoppy flavor and caramel malt, though it could use a bit more malt. Mouthfeel is average, I expected a little more. Alcohol is present in the flavor and adds to the solvent-like quality. Overall, I was impressed, but that’s because I wasn’t expecting much. TEJA (297), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 16, 2008 A big headwith small bubbels. A realy perfect pale colour. Rather small hop aroma and some solvents present. A big hop taste with some bitterness followed by a small clean caramell taste to give a dry finnish. Svesse (2685), Hässelby, Sweden
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2008 (Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Amber colour with a big, frothy, beige head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of orange peel, grapefruit, pine needles and caramel. Fruity, malty taste with grapefruit, orange peel, black-currant, pine needles and resin. Long hoppy finish with a touch too much alcohol and sweetness coming through to give it a perfect balance. But still, if you love your hops, it’s a very nice one. thickfreakness (130), AUSTIN, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Bottle thanks to bgramer. Pours hazy golden amber with a nice off white head that leaves a bit of lacing. Smells of huge pine and citrus with some sugary bread and alcohol in for good measure. Soapy pine and citrus in the flavor with lots of harsh bitterness. Quite a bit of booze and lingering sweetness as well. Quite dry medium body with light to medium carbonation.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 3, 2008 12oz Bottle. G5. Mildly oxidized juicy barleywine-like hop punch. Soapy, yeasty and delightful. Pours a hazed golden-orange, with a rim in white. Flavor is puckery and totally old. Devasted celery seed weeps of hop dust. Chewy and creamy, but totally beyond a double IPA deceny. There’s some hot yeast-alcohol phenols that really hold through and probably would have been obliterated by the hop juiciness, when fresh, but now it dominates the profile of the beer in a peculiar way. In the end, how hard can I be on a past-its-prime hoppy beer. I’m glad to have tried it. I can see through some of the age to what the beer may have been. Thanks Sean!
