Commercial Description:
Anniversaries are meant to be celebrated, and as we looked back on 11 years of “balance in beer,” we decided to take a walk on the wild side with this year’s Anniversary Ale. Our brewers were finally turned loose to craft a beer that’s focused on the hops, and the result is Hop Rocket… Arcadia’s 11th Anniversary Ale.

Hop Rocket is a veritable constellation of hops… including some varieties that we haven’t used in other beers, and it’s delivered by the same booster of worldclass malt that our loyal fans have come to know and love with all Arcadia Ales. We appreciate the opportunity to share with you this “launch” of our 12th years, and we hope you’ll enjoy the ride with Arcadia Hop Rocket!

12oz. bottle. Aroma is immediately rife with fruity, floral hops, citric and strongly fragrant, along with lighter, sugary malt notes and suggestions of pine needles, tangerine, orange and faint alcohol, which becomes a bit more apparent as it warms, along with a certain faintly doughy, cake-like character. Hazy golden amber in color with a slight but lasting head. Flavor is pretty well dominated by the hop profile, bringing a dose of fresh citrus including orange, grapefruit and pineapple, grassy spice and a strong amount of bitterness late, also seeing just enough honeyish malt sweetness here to keep things in line, finishing dry and bitter with a dash of peppery alcoholic fire. Resinous, gently acidic and warming on the palate with a full body. This is a pretty fresh batch, seemingly. Very flavorful and mostly in balance. Thanks to Gregis for picking some of this up for me.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of drewbeerme; thanks Andrew. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden color with a small but lasting creamy off white head. The aroma is big citrus hops, floral, and light moderately sweet caramel malt. The flavor is moderately sweet caramel malt and loads of citrus hops. At the tail end I do get some alcohol but its not distracting. This one surprised me a bit because I am used to being underwhelmed by this brewery.

bottle. Aroma has notes of grass, flowers, citrus, caramel. Hazy medium orange amber hue with an average sized foamy off-white head that mostly diminished but left good lace. Flavor is sweet and floral then finishes crisp and bitter. Palate is clean and medium bodied. Sparkling soft carbonation. Very surprised with this one. A top notch DIPA that should be enjoyed as fresh as possible. Nice and clean, very fresh and crispy. Not too bitter and very refreshing. The more I drink the more I like it. Very surprising and very good.

12oz. bottle, with thanks to Duane for this nice bonus! Pours a clear light amber with a towering off-white head, good lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus, and orange peel, following into the flavor with more of the same. There’s a slight lingering bitterness along with some balancing caramelly malts. Not overpowering, but mild and enjoyable. Thanks again Duane!

Appearance: Pours a hazy, amber body with a small, frothy white head. Smell: Largely hoppy aroma with notes of tangerines and apricots. Slight hints of pale malts and booze. Taste: Flash of malts with a crystal malt sweetness that remains intentionally insufficient, leaving the palate wide open to a hop attack. Fruity hops with a real tanginess to the flavors. Moderate bitterness, somewhat citric. Finishes as bitter as you’d expect and decidedly tangy. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slight stickiness to the mouthfeel. Drinkability: Good for those looking for a peppy Double IPA who’s hops don’t take a backseat to the malts.

Bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in KC. Medium godl body with a slightly off white head that has hints of yellow. The aroma has some massive grapefruit and musty perfume. There is also a little bit of strawberry candy behind that and it’s a hint. The taste is very strong grapefruit with some bread crust. There is also a little bit of roasted peanut character. A nice IIPA, but not special.

Courtesy of hopscotch. A golden orange pour with slightly off white head. A very light hop aroma and malt comes through pretty hard. Solid citrus hop profile but the malt seems to win out. Smooth even palate and carbonation. A very fine beer that is just a tad lite on the hops that would push it over the top. thanks Eric
