Aug 30, 2009 Pours a cloudy, glowing orange color. Huge puffy head. Glows bright from the inside like primordial amber.
The aroma is a big, bold flowery hop. Notes of spicy orange peel and tangerine. (It uses Summit hops, which is one of the few beers I’ve had that uses them.) Has a rich, rye-like base in the aroma. It’s sweet and estery and magnificent. Unreal.
The taste is sweet tangerine and orange with a hint of grapefruit. It’s like a rich, bready base with a kind of citrusy (Five Alive?) flavor on top. But the malt is dark like a bitter rye bread. Just this side of perfect.
The feel is creamy and yet oily like an Imperial Stout or a barleywine. It’s substantial and doesn’t let you forget it’s there. This is a goddamn fantastic beer. A masterpiece.

Aug 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark redish orange color with a small white head. Nose is big piney hops with some crisp buscuity and syrupy malt notes. Palate is full and active. Flavors of big piney resiny hops with a nice malt backbone that is sweet and full.

Aug 18, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy orange gold with a thin-moderate yellow-white head that faded to film after a quarter of the glass but left long-lasting lace all the way to the end. Very pleasant aroma of grapefruit and orange with a bit of sweet resinous pine in the nose as well. The flavor is caramel malt along with some slightly sweet resinous pine and some bitter grapefruit. About three or four seconds after the swallow some serious alcohol heat arises and lingers for a good fifteen seconds before finally subsiding.

Aug 6, 2009 [2209-20090605] Sample. Sweaty orange rind wet hops aroma. Clear, amber brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Lovely rich bitter wood orange flavour. Medium-full body. Tasty, a great start to the festival!

Aug 2, 2009 In bottle at Foran’s in Detroit on the July 24th weekend. Incredibly easy to drink considering the abv%. Quite a delicious drink and I can’t wait to find another one next time i’m in the states.
