Commercial Description:
Anniversaries are meant to be celebrated, and as we looked back on 11 years of “balance in beer,” we decided to take a walk on the wild side with this year’s Anniversary Ale. Our brewers were finally turned loose to craft a beer that’s focused on the hops, and the result is Hop Rocket… Arcadia’s 11th Anniversary Ale.

Hop Rocket is a veritable constellation of hops… including some varieties that we haven’t used in other beers, and it’s delivered by the same booster of worldclass malt that our loyal fans have come to know and love with all Arcadia Ales. We appreciate the opportunity to share with you this “launch” of our 12th years, and we hope you’ll enjoy the ride with Arcadia Hop Rocket!

Bottle. Pours a wonderful honey color with an eggshell colored head that disappears quickly and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is huge with citrus, flowers, pine, and just a hint of malt. Taste is very, very nice... a real kick in the taste buds with the flavor of hops. Just a little bit of the malt hitting you as you fist take a sip but mostly hops, hops and more hops. My favorite imperial to date... definitely one that I will be having again and most assuredly recommending to others

12oz Bottle. G5. Mildly oxidized juicy barleywine-like hop punch. Soapy, yeasty and delightful. Pours a hazed golden-orange, with a rim in white. Flavor is puckery and totally old. Devasted celery seed weeps of hop dust. Chewy and creamy, but totally beyond a double IPA deceny. There’s some hot yeast-alcohol phenols that really hold through and probably would have been obliterated by the hop juiciness, when fresh, but now it dominates the profile of the beer in a peculiar way. In the end, how hard can I be on a past-its-prime hoppy beer. I’m glad to have tried it. I can see through some of the age to what the beer may have been. Thanks Sean!

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear reddish amber, mid-sized head. Aroma of citrus peel and blood grape. Sweet, soapy and perfumy with medium-full body. Some light caramel and black currant, well rounded mouthfeel. The bitterness is strong, but never assaulting. It imay be well sweet, and there are certainly American beers that has both more intense and more delicious hop character. The soft mouthfeel and good balance however lifts it several notches.

Bottle. Pours a light orange, with a thin white head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is floral hops. Flavor is citrusy hops, well-balanced with sweet, honey-like malt flavors. The 9% ABV is very noticeable, but not unpleasant. Very drinkable. Certainly one of the better imperial IPAs out there, and quite reminiscent of the excellent Bell’s Hopslam.
