Arcadia Hopmouth Double IPA

22 oz. bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Orange red pour with a three finger head. Good lacing and retention. Big wet resiny hop aroma. Hops are assertive in the taste... citrus and resin. Brown sugar like malt sweetness. Well balanced. Full bodied.

Highly ordinary beer. This one could pass as a slightly overhopped pale ale. Some hoppy aftertaste makes this crisp for 8%, but aside from that, this beer wallows in average-ness. Very uninteresting chalky nose.

bottle, light sour lemon and other citrus notes on the nose, flavor of sweet grapefruit with a subdued finish

(Sampled 7-7-08) 22 oz. bottle poured into shaker- poured an ominous copper amber, faint tan head bubbled and laced away, aroma of malt with hops everywhere. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt comes in first, then some sweetness shows itself in the middle. The finish turns all that into a mild hop burn that lasts for a few minutes. Very delightful... and potent!!!

A very smooth double IPA with a clean finish Not as hoppy as some but a quality brew nonetheless.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark orange color with a large, fluffy white head. Aroma of piney hop resin. Initially, the flavor is bready malt. The hops are there, but not as much as I would’ve liked. Mainly citrus hops. Finish is a bit bitter with some alcohol.

the beer is a typical colored IIPA with a nice fluffy white head. Pretty typical orange, grapefruit, lemon zest aroma, but nicely balanced. The flavor is not nearly as hoppy as I expected, and what hops are there are notably lacking in fruity flavors. The hops provide more of the weedy flavor with a little lemon.

Bottled. Pours a deep orange with an off white head. Aroma is strong thick and syrupy grape fruit, orange, and some light lemon. A tinge of sweetness as well lodged in there. Flavor is masterfully malty with a strong grape fruit flavor. The orange/lemon shine through but are still dominated. The finish is a sweeter citrus. Body is big and syrupy.
