jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 30, 2008 Bottle. Poured a cloudy orange body with big head. Aroma is more centered on malt than hops. Flavor is a syrupy citrus taste with sweet malt, almost metallic taste. Very fizzy mouthfeel. beerking99 (199), USA Jan 20, 2008 Dark orange-amber beer with a big head that lasts to the end and leaves substantial lacing all the way down the glass. Aroma is huge citrus hops with hints of the maris otter malt in the background. Flavor is citrus (orange) hops with piney notes, but backed by a solid malt backbone and a medium body that stands up well to the hops. Tail is hoppy but still nicely balanced by malt. badbeer (432), Iowa, USA Jan 17, 2008 Thanks to joe1510 for the bottle. Clear, dark amber color with an off-white head retaining well and leaving good retention. Aroma is of grass, pine, and a little bit of spruce tip; also some caramel comes through. Taste has a lot of spruce to it with some pine coming in as it finishes; malt is there, but is hidden. Low carbonation with medium body. Wasn’t too impressed with this, but probably worth a try. EKGoldings (447), Radford, Virginia, USA Jan 17, 2008 Pours dark amber, very hazy, nice head and lace. Nice dryness, not sweet and cloying like some in this category. Great balance of bittering hops, malt and aroma hops. A bit more carbonated than I like but certainly within the range seen in IIPAs. Very well balanced, easy to drink, 8.1% well hidden. I would LOVE to find this on tap. I don’t get metallic in this bottle, not even a hint, and I’m quite sensitive to it. A fine beer indeed. jrob21 (1249), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 15, 2008 22 brought back from VA last time I was home. A little citrus and floral aroma. Clear orange color with a red tint. Slight sweetness. The malt body comes first and gives way to a pleasant bitter hop finish with some orange and grapefruit in there. The taste it leaves in your mouth is very metallic and the only negative to this otherwise subtle and pleasant drink. Cobra (1060), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA Jan 8, 2008 Updated: Jan 9, 200822 oz. brown bomber bottle. Must be an old sample, because the best buy on the side label ended in 2006. Poured out a hazy orange color, with a sticky tan head. Aromas are of hops mostly, with weak malts in the background. Certainly not fresh by any stretch of the imagination. Pedestrian flavors overall, if the ABV wasn’t high, it’d have been tossed by now by any other brewer. Sammy (3928), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 2, 2008 Drinkable DIPA, hop leaf in there, even astringent and overcarbonated. But it gets down. It’s got a generous head, and some pine smell. The malts are there but the IBU taste fairly high. I would drink it again. Petrucci914 (574), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Dec 25, 2007 Pours an orangish gold color with a small amount of lacing. Aroma is pine, and citrus fruits like pineapple. Taste is bitter and piney, a bit chewy, and finishes with a nutty malt taste. Decent.
