Bomber. Poured an orange auburn, large white, creamy head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, caramel and some pine. Aroma also had a hint of sweetness. Medium bodied, lacking the oily texture that I enjoy in an IPA. Fairly dry finish. Long lingering finish. Pretty strong citrus hops and grass flavor, gives way to a caramel malt sweetness. Lacks the flavor and complexity of some of the better DIPA’s, but still enjoyable.

Sampled from tap at the "Arcadia Brewing Big Beer Special Release Party" at the Dilly Deli on 10/25/2006... Clear, copper color with an ivory crown. Moderate carbonation. Floral and citrus hop aroma and flavor. There is also some lightly toasted malt in the flavor. Slightly dry flowery hop finish. Very well balanced and not too overpowering on the hops. Average body and mouthfeel. A very drinkable Double IPA. 16 oz draught, $4.00 at the Dilly Deli.

Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Hazy amber color. Sweet and strongly hoppy aroma with apricot, mango and grapefruit. Very hoppy bittersweet flavor with grapefruit, apricot and chewy maltiness. Good hop aroma, a bit too chewy.

Bottle. An orange brown color with a laced tan head. A malty and medicinal hop aroma with fruit (apricot, orange, and peach) and flowers. Malty rich but not thick. Fresh liquid hop flavors with orange, grapefruit, wood and flowers.

"Huge Maris Otter malt and a more than generous amount of fresh hops make this beer memorable", so they tell us. Not which hops, though, or any other information, but let’s open it up see, eh? Big hoppy aroma escapes the bottle and into the atmosphere, right off the bat...nice going...hazy vermillion appearance, with a huge, puffy, off-whitish head. Looks great!...and... ...smells great! Piney first, followed by fruit, a mix of apple and grapefruit, with echoes of cherry and grape, and peppery spices whispering away behind them. Quite a treat for the nose! I rather enjoy it. In the mouth, the juicy hop blitz mounts an assault, accompanied by massive amounts of bitterness. It sloshes about a bit, then fades amiably back. With each new sip, a blast of fruity flavor, with bracing bitterness, but unstoppable taste. Most ample body, quite sufficient to hold up the hops, and a firm texture, long, delicious, hoppy finish. Abv is ungiven, unknown, but it’s starting to roar up on me, after only half a glass. Quite a sunny, friendly, extra-delicious brew, this one, and it reminds me a bit in the taste of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, and then, at times, it doesn’t. Bright and tasty, this Hopmouth...quite nice.

Medium orange amber, decent head. Aroma a blend of caramel malts and grapefruit. Flavor matches, definitely all on the big side. Although this wasn’t particularly exciting for an IIPA, there wasn’t anything wrong here either, and the malts and the hops balanced each other well. Nice.

31.10.06 Bomber. Lightly hazy copper-amber color with lingering off-white head. Aroma is lighlty herbal, strongly resinous, and moderately grapefruit pithy. Malts come through in aroma as biscuity and bready with background hints of butter. Mild buttery flavors carry into the front of each sip but are quickly overrun by blisteringly resinous hops. Overall the body is light to medium and the eff is appropriately fine to match. lingering aftertaste of black tea. This is not the best bottle of Hopmouth I’ve had, but it’s still very tasty. What a treat to have Arcadia beers now available in NJ!
