| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 27, 2006 Deep red-orange, thin, long-lasting creamy film of a head. Nose bitter and spicy, some pine. Flavor less hoppy that expected or desired, has a big, bready maltiness, but the hops are a bit thin. Definite pine, a bit of citrus. Nice palate, quite thick and creamy, but just not hoppy. It’s an over-malted IIPA, if such a thing is possible. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2006 Translucent and magnifying copper-red in color with ice shavings that span the circumference of the head. Fresh hop goodness in the nose. Disaronno, simcoe and rhubarb pump out an a-characteristic aroma, supported with porous cedar panels seeping in maple syrup that’s sliding down the wood, cherry-scented spruce potpourri and some pine resin as well. Flavor glides in and stutter steps, pulling out a set of original tricks. Brandy flambé and liqueur ignited crème brûlée. Building hop abrasions pressurize the palate. Amaretto toffee candies with rum raisin sweetening, eventually leading to farm stock of oats and honey. Surprisingly thick and oily on the palate with a bitter cacophony at first, and a heavy onset to smooth it out afterwards. Carbonation seems to vanish fairly early in each subsequent pour. Seemingly well-balanced, yet it tips the scale at several turns and always manages to stay afloat. Dry, socket tugging bitterness manifests prevalently in the finish, along with buttery hard toffee flavors. Definitely a unique take on the style, though I’m much more comfortable with thinking of this as an Imperial ESB. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 22, 2007 Darker amber, moderate head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is that overripe fruity hop that I can’t stand with more fruits, caramel, grapefruit, pine, etc. Medium bodied with well rounded flavors and bitterness, but I hate that one hop they use. That combined with being fairly mild for the style scored lower for me. tronraner (1933), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 26, 2007 Bottle shared by SpringsLicker with myself, Suttree, and decaturstevo. Pours cloudy rust color with ivory head. The aroma is toast and grapefruit with a few piney notes and a touch of grass. Flavor is peanut shells, some charred caramel, and a lot of hop bitterness. Dry aftertaste. Ok. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 20, 2006 Pours a cloudy orange with a thick lasting head that looks like a half pint of milk with a shot of dr.pepper in it (which really is kind of tasty). Mint aroma with the prerequisite pine, and grass notes. Dusty taste. Pine and grass flavor that is muted with a pepto bismol flavor that while not unpleasant is unwelcome here. Finish is alcohol and paper with dry grass. I’ve sat here for a while trying to put more words to this, but they are not needed. While not unpleasant this beer is unremarkable.

Aroma had a wierd chemical hop thing going on which seemed to dissapate as the pint went down. The first initial sips also has the wierd buring plastic taste but as it I continued it let. Then it seemed like english hop bomb. Dcent DIPA but Ive had better Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 28, 2006 Thanks to kms399 for this guy. Dark goldpour with an awesome white head. Sweet, candylike nose. Odd. Citrusy hop flavor, but with earthy undertones. VERY interesting! frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 29, 2007 Deep amber pour, looks nice and thick, under a low head that settles a bit soapy. Pure grapefruit aroma. Nice. ABV well-hidden... almost TOO well. Hops are not overdone yet they are certainly sincere in their presence. Fully sessionable for a higher-alcohol beer. Dangerous. They had just put this one on halfway through our lunch, and boy was I happy.
