| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 30, 2008 First, thanks to mmmm///beer for sending this my way. After enjoying a bottle of Green Flash’s IIPA, this was obvously a stark contrast in the difference in brewing styles for the same type of beer.
The beer pours out a medium-dark amber color, slightly hazy with a three-finger thick creamy off-white head. The aroma has a nice floral hop aroma, some light flesh fruit (apricot came to mind), with some subtle grass notes.
The flavor was suprisingly sweet, especially just after enjoying the Green Flash. Quite the difference. Sweet was the main flavor, with hops playing second fiddle, and that’s just wrong for an IIPA. Still, it was a nice beer. Malt action abounds, with some floral and citrusy hops showing some character, but just not enough. Nice beer though. MrManning (1661), London, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 4, 2006 Bomber courtesy of Styles, thanks Chris! Deep copper pour giving way to a HUGE frothy, beige head. Tons of belgian style lacing here, create the perfect appearance. I don’t do this often, but appearance here is a 5. Huge pine hop presence in the nose, I mean big. Its strong, and enjoyable. There’s some crystal malt in the nose too, could use a little more to balance out the aroma, but its pungeny hop aroma is all I need. An assault of hops fills the mouth, and appeases all that I want as far as hops are concerned. A fresh, pine and citric hops flavour is big, bold, and beautiful. There’s minute caramel malt sweetness to balance, but I think this beer needs a few more months of to sit. This is a big beer, and it’s up there with Ruination, Dreadnaught, etc. Had it on tap at the Mi brewer’s guild fest, but it wasn’t close to this good. Wow, thanks so much Chris. A must try! Pours a hazy amber with wispy off white head. Nose and flavor are huge red apples, with fruity hop and apple cider. Cool label, cool name, but standard. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2006 Oily dark copper with decemt white head. Aroma very has a very harsh bitterness. Lots of pine resin and musty hops. Flavor has a sweet malt kick initially, turns to the same harsh bitterness, again very musty hops. Can see where hopheads would enjoy this but, just doesn’t appeal to my tastebuds. wetherel (1641), Encinitas, California, USA

Reminds me of many San Diego style IPAs, such as Double Bastard, Sleighor, Dreadnaught. Though I think it is reasonably fresh, you can tell it is a bit off it’s peak. Very well balanced...i.e. balanced toward very hoppy. Nice hoppy aroma. Nice grapefruit hop bitterness. Very drinkable. Very nice. jason (1627), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 30, 2008 Bottle. Poured a cloudy orange body with big head. Aroma is more centered on malt than hops. Flavor is a syrupy citrus taste with sweet malt, almost metallic taste. Very fizzy mouthfeel.
