Orange pour with a clingy, sticky white head. Bitty, piney nose. Flavor tastes more like a heavier IPA than a Double IPA. Maybe a bit caramel. The Shorts IPA I had afterwards was much more hoppy. Thinnish Palate, kind of boozy. Pretty disappointing, but Im not surprised. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

Nose had grapefruit and spicy pepper. Some stick pine hop in tasty. Puckering after taste. Nice brew here. j12601 (1332), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 6, 2009 On tap at the Beechtree. Pours a light hazy orange with a medium beige head. Big pine and pineapple, with an enormous caramel component. A bit thin, and slightly malty, with more caramel. Finishes with a light grapefruit bitterness and a touch of booze, and slightly grainy. Doesn’t live up to the aromas. kwoeltje (1326), Manchester, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 8, 2007 (bottle) lovely dark amber with moderate off-white head. Pine aroma jumps out. But the hops aren’t as obvious in the flavor, and it has a slightly soapy finish. JMerritt (1322), Macomb, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 13, 2008 Orangey-red color, slightly lazy with a massive, frothy white head that leaves behind thick curtains of lacing. Aroma is a strong punch of piney hops followed by caramel and spicy hop notes and a touch of alcohol. Aroma overall is much more earthy and musty as opposed to the usual fresh, zingy citric aroma found in a lot of double IPAs. Vanilla cookie-sweet malts evident in the flavor along with resinous hops and toffee. Cleansing, herbal finish. Moderately carbonated, suits this offering well. Darkover (1316), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 23, 2007 Cloudy, dark amber appearance with an average size beige head and good lacing. Resinous hop aroma, fruity, with malts in the background. Smooth, sweet malt flavor balanced by citrusy, piney hops. Medium-to-full bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel leading to a fairly dry, long lasting finish. GRM (1283), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada
