i really disliked the finish on this. it was a lasting tackiness. the taste was watered down generally. not much of an IIPA. the smell was decent though, as well as the appearance. rerate: some weird candyish caramel in the aroma. taste is indeed watered down and perhaps a bit lagerish. no alcohol. hops aren’t super bitter, they’re in fact pretty fresh. so it’s a mixed bag. extremely drinkable for the abv, perhaps owing to the wateriness.... it’s definitely above average at best.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Caramel color with nice lasting head and lace. Fresh hop piney soapy grapefruit aroma. Hop forward piney resiny orangey citrus flavor with ass-backward toasty malty sweet finish. The beer is balanced but backward. Still, not a bad effort, just not one of the real good ones (IMHO). I’m not sure who is looking for "huge Maris Otter" malt in their DIPA.

Sampled at the Newtown Brewfest 07 with Stegosaurus. Hazy amberish pour. Good hop aroma with a splash of grass/pine. Taste had mild hop not really blended the way I like it but it was a decent beer. Very drinkable.

22 oz. Bottle: Cloudy copper color with a small dense white head. Sweet citrusy hop aroma and a little alcohol. As the commercial description states, this is extremely balanced ale for a 2IPA. The hops are a tangy, but I am impressed with how easy this is to drink and still has the hoppy character of the stlye. It has a great bitter aftertaste that lodges itself in the back top of your mouth and says "Hey, little buddy, why don’t you take another sip?" So, I oblige. This is something I could drink on a regular basis if I lived a little closer to Battle Creek.

Very malty for the style, I thought, and the hops are of the woodsy, musty variety, rather than the tropical or citrusy.

Hazy orange with fluffy white head. Aroma is of pineapple and citrus. Taste is dry and crackery with slight citrusy sweetness, and finishes with bitter hops. Not really an IIPA, but a decent product nonetheless. $6/22oz

22 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass has a caramel brown color and a light tan one finger foamy head. aroma has caramel malt, resinous pine hops, some bitterness, a touch of citrus, and light alcohol. mouth feel is medium with little carbonation. hops lead the flavor with pine, citrus, and bitterness. hefty malted base stands up well with caramel and sweetness peeking in. finish is squarely bitter and lingers for a minute. very good but not quite there.

Pours a nice copper color, topped by an inch of cream colored foam. Good head retention and lacing. Hop bitterness, pine, and light malt in the aroma. Flavor is pretty intense with big piney hops and big caramel malt. Toss in some citrus hop flavors. Toss in some toffee-like malt flavors. Delightful pine and grapefruit and alcohol in the finish and aftertaste. Just when all Double IPAs start to taste too much alike, this one comes along and stands on its own. As hoppy and bitter as it is, the malt really makes this one. Medium to full body, gentle but substantial carbonation.
