Pours a cloudy, copper-orange colored body with a big, dense, long lasting, off-white head that leaves a lot of nice lacing. Aroma is sweet and semi piney. Mostly malty and an orange citrus pine. Taste is kind of funky. Hard to say what makes it so funky, but there’s something about the malts that is throwing me off. The hops are plentiful and give off a somewhat over-ripe orange taste, but the malts are messing with my taste buds. Its almost like a stale slice of toaste. Palate is medium bodied and has a long lasting sweet citrus aftertaste. Overall, not a bad beer, but definitely not amongst my favorites when it comes to DIPA’s. Kind of on the tame side. hombrepalo (780), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 12, 2008 bottle. Poured out a nice glowing amber color, light head, quickly fading. Floral hop aroma, fresh and crisp. delightful taste of quality hops and malts, well balanced in lots of ways. Excellent finish. One of the top IIPA. Dough77 (779), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jul 12, 2007 Got another bottle of this that I’ll rate soon, but this first one was boring. Not completely, its probably just that I’m in a huge IPA zone and been drinking lots of my favorits lately. But as for first impressions this one failed to do much. Pour is gold and amberish light white head. Aroma of slight citrus with some pine. The malts are a little overpowering for my liking. ho hum. jstraw (776), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2007 Been a while since I had a double. This one pours a dark copper color with a thick, creamy and lasting white head. Pine needles and peppermint aroma. Medium bodied, carbonation is good. Big on hops but one-dimensional. Piney, resinous hops throughout. Malt profile is a bit rough, some caramel. Seems stronger than 8%. A midwest version of a northwest standard. Respectable. craftbeerdesign (766), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2008 shared bomber. pours a deep murky golden with an average white head. I wish there were more hops in the aroma... it is kinda quiet for a IIPA. Solid hop presence on the tongue, but falls short on the finish. Doesn’t really stick with you like a IIPA should. Soft on the sides and lively on the front of the palate. Average IIPA, very drinkable but falls short from something I’d seek out again. mmmbeer (765), Austin, Texas, USA

Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt comes in first, then some sweetness shows itself in the middle. The finish turns all that into a mild hop burn that lasts for a few minutes. Very delightful... and potent!!! KnN (751), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 4, 2009 Pours a dark hazy orange color with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is really big on the malt characteristics with just some fairly mild hop undertones. Flavor is much more hoppy but this is still pretty sweet for a DIPA. Decent but not spectacular.
