orange, little head - probably served too cold to tell however. This is a double IPA dominated by its hop components. So, I would argue, that it is not quite as balanced as the brewery claims. Nevertheless, the floral hop aroma, flavors and bitterness are nice. Finishes very bitter, dry. smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2006 Bottle - big grassy hop nose with some spicy hops in, as well. Beautiful amber/orange body with an off-white head. A delicious beer! Obviously there are tons of hops, but somehow they do not pucker your mouth. Caramel, peaches, apricots and oranges along with a strong malt backbone. Nice full, soft mouthfeel. This is a very fine brew! GranvilleTim (520), Granville, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 29, 2009 Pour is a copper hue with a off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma with some sweetness to it- maybe the malt. Taste is swwet and citrus hopp flavor. An ok mouthfeel, expected more from a double IPA. Some lacing on the glass. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 6, 2007 Pours hazy amber/orange with a huge frothy/rocky off-white head. Fruity aroma of grapefruit, with lots of roasted malt and piney hops. Flavor is lightly sweet, piney, notes of caramel, lots of roasted barley, and light bitterness on the finish. Palate is medium, some bitterness, a bit oily/resiny, with some remnants of caramel and grapefruit. Fairly balanced, but the malt profile overshadows the hops a bit too much. Tasty, just would’ve liked some more hops. agl108 (509), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2007 Thanks to lamas for the bomber. Poured hazy orange with fluffy off-white head. Nose is sweet and fruity with a touch of pine. Surprisingly malty with bitter citrus finish. Very sweet. Mediocre. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2009 Another bottle from Kevin. This is a solid beer but its not really so much of a DIPA as a somewhat hoppy barley wine. Nose is lightly hoppy but dominated by caramel malt. Some light grassy hops in the flavor as well but here again layers of caramel and tofee. The malt is really quite nice but this is nowhere near hoppy or bitter enough to be a DIPA. But this is still a very drinkable beer. sfontain (506), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2006 Small sample at beer tasting at From The Vine in Lewis Center, Ohio. Nearly no head; appearance of scotch; oily. Aroma is very striking: sharp orange presence with vanilla (sort of an orange cream vibe). Flavor is citrusy and grassy with oak; sharply sweet; warming without the alcoholic bite. Full and clean. Truly an IIPA for non-hopheads like me. joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA

Hopmouth pours a very dark orange, bordering on garnet, but glows when held to the light. Slightly hazy with clumped groups of rising carbonation. Two finger ivory head formed on the pour and stayed put becoming dense and craggy over time but without receding. Leaves thick drink line lacing after each sip. Great looking head but the body is a little too hazy.
Smells of lightly toasted grains with a solid helping of caramel throughout. Mild vegetal aroma but it’s surprisingly not a turn of, reminiscent of celery. Big grassy hops with a squeeze or two of grapefruit juice. Alcohol vapors tickle the nose as it warms.
Biscuity and caramel malts start things off and are quickly followed by a quick wave of alcohol. A grassy hop bitterness washes over the tongue along with hints of grapefruit and pine needles. The caramel makes an appearence again on the swallow. Good flavorful IIPA.
Medium body that becomes airy and creamy when it hits the tongue. Moderate carbonation with a solid bitterness.
Easy drinking enjoyable IIPA. My glass is disappearing far to quickly.
Good solid IIPA. Balanced but with big waves of malt followed by big waves of hops. My first encounter with Arcadia Ales and I wouldn’t hesitate to venture back.
