22 oz bottle -- Poured a rusty orange-red with a gigantic airy, rocky, bubbly head of white soapy foam. The aroma is dirty and earthy with a peppery tingle to the olfactory glands. The stinky chewy factor carries to the palate, with this beer being overly perfumey and otherwise light in character. Quite light bodied for a DIPA. (#3073, 9/3/2007)

Poured a dark golden color with a large off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, floral hops, grass clippings, and some caramel malts. Taste of caramel malts up front, pine, citrus fruits, tobacco, and a touch of alcohol to round it all out.

Dark copper color with a thin head. A massive blast of pine and citrus up front on the nose. These continue into the taste and do not let up at all. The malt base is so-so. It probably has a lot of malt, but the hops really bury it. Thankfully, the hops mix very nicely in this one.

2005 draught at Berkley Front on 11/23/05. Doubt this should be a distinct entry from the regular IIPA. Pours a amber-honey with a slight reddish tinge and a small and dissipating off-white head. Lightly hazy as well. Aroma of light perfume, bitter pine sap and ruby red grapefruit with some drier lemon and orange notes. Typical caramel malt base is supportive, but lightly done. Flavor is fruit-juicy and sweet at first, with a sticky, candyish malt mixing with sticky resinous hop flavor. Grapefruit and oranges grow on the palate with a large bitterness and low acidity. Becomes too one-dimensional by the end with overdone hops and not enough malt complexity. Texture was watery, but everything at this bar was watery, so I’m not so sure it was the beer. Carbonation is low, alcohol only lightly apparent adding a drying note.

Bomber poured a lightly hazy copper with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, fruittiness, earthiness and a hint of pine. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth with a lightly dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, tropical fruit and some herbal notes with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish.

Too sweet for a DIPA in my never to be humble opinion!

Bottle shared with GregClow, jerc & tupalev at our Hotel in Michigan -- courtesy of jerc. Pours a hazy dark reddish-orange with some floaties and a spare off-white head. Nice citrus hop aroma with lots of sweetness, some spices and sufficient malt backbone. Flavour is predominently citrus and resin hops nicely backed by caramel malt. Medium bodied. A very enjoyavble I2PA, I’m glad I’ve got a bottle of it to myself at home.

22-oz. bottle received via trade with tjthresh. Pours dark amber-tawny with an average creamy off-white head, mostly lasting, good lacing. Aroma is averge malt (caramel), heavy hops (perfume, flowers, spruce), average yeast (sweat, dough) with notes of pear and apple. Medium bodied, average carbonation, alcoholic texture and a bitter finish. Average durtation, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness; some soapiness.
