jrob21 (1136), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 15, 2008 22 brought back from VA last time I was home. A little citrus and floral aroma. Clear orange color with a red tint. Slight sweetness. The malt body comes first and gives way to a pleasant bitter hop finish with some orange and grapefruit in there. The taste it leaves in your mouth is very metallic and the only negative to this otherwise subtle and pleasant drink.
mattmc1973 (239), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Jun 27, 2009 12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Deep murky copper color with thin off-white head. Aroma is very faint for a DIPA, very mild grassy hops and a tinge of caramel. Taste is also too mild without the standard characteristics of a DIPA- big hops, citrus, pine, and caramel malt. Not much of any of those going on. I actually taste some rye in there. Nicely carbonated. Overall pretty disappointed. Meh. 17thfloor (1147), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 26, 2009 On tap at xnoxhatex’s wedding reception spring 2009! Pours a caramel brown with a nice dense white froth. Strong piney bitter salty C-hop aroma, just a little funky.
Very bitter moldy funky salty aggressive hops with smooth mildly rich caramel base. Medium bodied caramel sticky with softer big bubbly carbonation. Not great. esjaygee (1260), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jun 24, 2009 Murky copper orange with a thin tan head, slowly fading leaving some lace in its wake. Aroma of alcohol, citrus, pine and sweet malt. Taste of citrus, caramel malt, minor alcohol with a moderate bitter finish. Not overly hoppy, only the alcohol content reminds me this is a DIPA, where are the hops? Bitterness is there, but more of an afterthought than anything. A little too aggressively carbonated for my tastes as well. JaBier (797), Capital City, Ohio, USA Jun 20, 2009 12oz bottle from The Party Source. Thick cloudy amber pour with a medium tan head. Cereal malt aroma with some citrus hops. Sour orange flavor up front with a ton of malt and a bitter grapefruit finish. A bit too malty, but not bad. New York, USA Jun 6, 2009 On tap at the Beechtree. Pours a light hazy orange with a medium beige head. Big pine and pineapple, with an enormous caramel component. A bit thin, and slightly malty, with more caramel. Finishes with a light grapefruit bitterness and a touch of booze, and slightly grainy. Doesn’t live up to the aromas. WakeandBake (366), Greenville, Michigan, USA Jun 5, 2009 22oz Bottle. A hazy amber color body with a lasting fluffy offwhite head, streeks of lacing down my tulip galss. Aroma is nice and hoppy, having a good mix of citrus and pine notes with some herbal hints and maybe a little honey.
Flavor is toasty with some sweet caramel malt and a citrus/pine resin hop flavor, a little earthy, very balanced. A nice crisp clean mouthfeel with just the right amount of carbonation. A resiny floral aftertaste, alcohol is well hidden. A very easy drinker, with a flavor and aroma that keep you taking sip after sip.
Nice job Arcadia
GranvilleTim (289), Granville, Illinois, USA May 29, 2009 Pour is a copper hue with a off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma with some sweetness to it- maybe the malt. Taste is swwet and citrus hopp flavor. An ok mouthfeel, expected more from a double IPA. Some lacing on the glass.
