jrob21 (1250), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 15, 2008 22 brought back from VA last time I was home. A little citrus and floral aroma. Clear orange color with a red tint. Slight sweetness. The malt body comes first and gives way to a pleasant bitter hop finish with some orange and grapefruit in there. The taste it leaves in your mouth is very metallic and the only negative to this otherwise subtle and pleasant drink.
cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Oct 28, 2009 Ruby brown body, fluffy white head and thick, spotty lacing. Lemon, orange, and apple fruit aromas followed by a hearty caramel scent. The hop aromas are quite soapy with a good evergreen quality. Heavy and sweet with a somewhat balanced hop to malt feeling for this style of beer. It’s quite the malt bomb with a sweet candy apple and caramel flavor followed by plenty of citrus and piny hops. I detect lots of crystal malt giving a good biscuit and nutty flavor. Great beer, enjoyed a 4-pack although it is misleading by today’s DIPA standards. HoppyAlesToYou (24), , Indiana, USA Sep 22, 2009 Had this on tap at the brewpub and from bottles that I purchased there at the end of June. Having consumed a bottle every month approximately, it has become apparent that it does not age well. The snifter that I am drinking while keying is more like an amber ale than a double IPA. Regardless, it was much better at the brewpub. A finely balanced Double IPA, not too bitter or dry. Served on tap at Arcadia Brewing Company. Appearance is golden brown with a thin off-white head. The flavors and aromas follow this nice sweet hop bouquets that is more earthy and piney then anything. Hop intensity is really nice and leads to a nice bitter and full mouth.
awiseman01 (318), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Sep 10, 2009 Dan’s Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #24 of 90. Tap at Arcadia, shared taster (hands down best taster offering I’ve ever had...a total of 9-3oz pours for $7.99). Pours a golden orange. Excellent use of malts and citrus hops in this one. ABV is not overpowering. Taste is excellent, with a great hop punch. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 6, 2009 Very nice IPA, not quite sure it makes a double b ut close and not so sickeningly infused that it is too much. Bottle amber colored not much head. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Aug 31, 2009 Bottle shared with the guys at the Inglorious Emergency Tasting. Pours a hazy amber with wispy off white head. Nose and flavor are huge red apples, with fruity hop and apple cider. Cool label, cool name, but standard. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 31, 2009 Pours a lacing, barely beige head with a ruby-amber body. Aromas of bubblegum and resin. Flavor is floral and citrus hops as well as caramelized malts. Nice floral and very slightly bitter finish.
