The nose is also quite appealing. Big floral to citrusy hops with a nice underlying well rounded sweetness. Juicy. The mouthfeel is a bit creamy, but not quite as viscous and thick as I’d expect out of an IIPA. The flavor is much more subdued than the aroma would indicate. Caramel sort of malts are overshadowed but a floral to piney hop presence. The bitterness strikes early in a pleasant way and stays on throughout the aftertaste in a more or less even way. Definitely a biting mouthabrading bitterness, though not the sort of bitterness that blows one away. I think I like this one more with each sip. Really hides the alcohol well, and I remember this as being a relatively cheap bomber. I can imagine this being a bit better fresher if this really is a winter brew. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 6, 2007 22oz bomber poured out a brilliant clear copper with one inch frothy off white had. Decent lacing was left behind clinging to the glass. The aroma is tangy citrus hops with a pine hop sense just behind. There’s also a sweet malt aroma trying to break through the hoppy veil. The taste is big pine and grapefruit hop bitterness. A malty sweetness seems to be running mildly amuck beneath the bed of hop flavors. As the finish draws closer the pine and grapefruit hop bitterness grows. This is a tasty big hop brew that shows no sign of its ABV. It seems a tad thin for the style. Very tasty though. Flavor is pine, citrus, caramel malt. Malt backbone is present, but doesn’t really balance the intense hops. Long, bitter finish. This is really very good. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 4, 2006 22 oz bomber. Pretty hazy amber color. Heavy notes of citrus on the nose; especially grapefruit. Slightly musty as it warms. Very creamy on the palate. Floral, dry, notes of orange rind. Only mildy hoppy initially. All leads to a fairly hoppy finish. It gets longer as the beer warms. millysdaddy (67), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 26, 2007 22 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy, orange-amber with an off-white head. Floral and piney hop aromas as well as caramel and dried fruit. Big malty flavors of caramel, vanilla and nuts balanced by citrus and pine hops. As IIPAs go, this one tends towards the maltier side but very good overall. cking (1023), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 28, 2009 Ruby brown body, fluffy white head and thick, spotty lacing. Lemon, orange, and apple fruit aromas followed by a hearty caramel scent. The hop aromas are quite soapy with a good evergreen quality. Heavy and sweet with a somewhat balanced hop to malt feeling for this style of beer. It’s quite the malt bomb with a sweet candy apple and caramel flavor followed by plenty of citrus and piny hops. I detect lots of crystal malt giving a good biscuit and nutty flavor. Great beer, enjoyed a 4-pack although it is misleading by today’s DIPA standards. TheKegergator (241), California, USA

Pour is an awesome dark copper/amber color, not quite clear. With a nice sized head that lasted a while. The smell is a little meh, especially for a DIPA. Again, taste is good, just not for a DIPA. This makes this big brew very drinkable, and if was just and IPA, would be solid.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 3, 2007 Deep burnt orange color, full frothy white head. Alot of pineapple in the nose with carmelized bananas. Hints of citrus and pine but the sugary fruits dominate. Medium bodied and perfectly carbonated. A very nice drink with a crisp hoppy finish. Just not what Im used to in a DIPA, not enough hoppy citrus in the nose. Still, a pretty good beer.
