Superb, strong, sharp, soapy, resiny aroma features pine, grass, lemon, salt, and vinegar scents. Super-hoppy smell. Pours a hazy, bright, dark copper or brick color. Huge amount of thick, uneven beige head and thick lacing. Looks very appetizing. Tastes much like it smells, but not quite as strong or good. Bready, lemony flavors couple with cookie maltiness to give a lemon poppy seed muffin effect. Citrus sourness: Grapefruit, orange, and of course lemon. Spicy: Cumin, paprika, and salt. Vegetal, especially celery, flavors. Rich and complex flavors. Long, dry, bitter finish and aftertaste. Medium to heavy body. Oily in the palate with a reasonable amount of liveliness.
Arcadia Hopmouth Double IPA is a great beer. I shouldn’t be surprised, for Arcadia India Pale Ale is one of the best (and most underrated) IPAs in the world, at least to this IPA lover. It’s natural that its double would also be great. This may be the best double IPA that I’ve ever had This is the beer that has caused me to change my favorite style from Imperial Stout to Imperial/Double IPA. Ignore the average score. This beer rocks. badlizard (2345), Berkeley, California, USA

Aroma of caramel and sweet spice: clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon. A nice malty backbone with an earhty, peppery cinnamon and corriander taste with some fruity notes. Smooth silky palate and a mild bitterness. Excellent. cyrenaica (440), Milton, Ontario, Canada

I tried this beer on August 30, 2007 at the ’Beer Bistro’ in Toronto. The price is not a mis-print, I really did pay $20.00 for a beer. The beer poured a muddy brown into the glass with a small tan head that lasted throughout. The aroma was very hoppy...VERY hoppy with some perfumy and floral scents. Almost bubble-bath like. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with some mild carbonation. The flavour was hoppy and very spicy with some lingering bitterness. Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2006 Bottle. Big sweet, hoppy, piney nose that reminds me of Pine-Sol. Dark honey body with a patch of bubbles. Taste-medium to high bitterness, lightly metallic, “dirty” tasting, green olive, light apple. The malt profile is kind of thin, but the hops are not so over the top that it doesn’t work. Almost a really good balance. Not too sweet or cloying like so many IIPA’s. Very enjoyable. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 23, 2006 Bottle from Super Saver. Pours hazy deep copper with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of huge fruity piney hops, caramel malt, tropical fruit (honeydew, canteloupe, tangerine) and black pepper. The flavor starts piney hoppy and tropical fruity, with the malt coming in at the end, and the malt giving more way to the hops as it warms, which causes this to get a tad bittery piney and unbalanced at the end. If you are a hophead, you will love this one. bigrond (1048), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
