(22 oz. bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=3 target=blank>shigadeyo, thanks Craig!) Piney and hot...Pours cloudy amber with three fingers of biege head. Head is quite slow to recede, finally forming into about 1/2’ of a lumpy cap. Aroma of pine and grapefruit with some sugar rock candy underneath. Mouthfeel faitly soft and smooth, a little sticky. Heavy sheets of lacing. Flavor is quite hot from fore through finish. Lots of pine, some grapefruit, very little malt able to fight through. Medium-heavy bitter bite in finish. A little harsh.

Bottle shared by SpringsLicker with myself, Suttree, and decaturstevo. Pours cloudy rust color with ivory head. The aroma is toast and grapefruit with a few piney notes and a touch of grass. Flavor is peanut shells, some charred caramel, and a lot of hop bitterness. Dry aftertaste. Ok.

From 22oz. bottle. Pours a dark orange, frothy head, with great lacing. Nose has grapefruit, some malts and a little lemon. Flavor is of strong, grassy hops, that are well balanced with the malt. Not a personal favorite, but a well done beer.

First, thanks to mmmm///beer for sending this my way. After enjoying a bottle of Green Flash’s IIPA, this was obvously a stark contrast in the difference in brewing styles for the same type of beer.

The beer pours out a medium-dark amber color, slightly hazy with a three-finger thick creamy off-white head. The aroma has a nice floral hop aroma, some light flesh fruit (apricot came to mind), with some subtle grass notes.

The flavor was suprisingly sweet, especially just after enjoying the Green Flash. Quite the difference. Sweet was the main flavor, with hops playing second fiddle, and that’s just wrong for an IIPA. Still, it was a nice beer. Malt action abounds, with some floral and citrusy hops showing some character, but just not enough. Nice beer though.

Aroma of fruit salad, melons, peaches. Thin body with powerful piney hops bitterness and a resiny finish. Could use a bit more malt, tastes too thin.

Bottle via john_adam2002. Amber color. Smell of light hops, flowers, caramel, ginger, pepper, citrus, candy rasins, pine and malt. Taste of hops, pine, grass, malt, orange peal, clove, pepper, ginger ale, alcohol, caramel and cotton candy. A minor harsh aftertaste. Very interesting double IPA. A lot of spice going on in this one.
