Commercial Description:
Black as coal in color, this bottle conditioned Stout has a velvety rich and sweet malt aroma. After pouring, a dense brown head gives way to a big, full-bodied and creamy texture that has flavors of roasted coffee and black currants, blending perfectly with the malt. A generous amount of hops add balance and complexity to this extraordinary stout that will continue to improve with age. A worthy beer to cellar and enjoy throughout the year.

12oz bottle from Once Upon a Vine, Richmond. Nice thick pour, with visible yeast, and a miniscule cappucino colored head. Mild roasts in an aroma more dominated by dark fruits and a slight vinous quality. Thick mouthfeel and big chocolate flavors leading to a kind of Cadbury Fruit and Nut bar impression. Finish is slightly dry. Not bad.

Cocoa bean brown color, light cocoa-powder brown on top (slush, not head). Almost black, absolutely opaque. Oily dark roasted malt aroma; dark raisin, cocoa, bourbon, Kahlua/black licorice. Beastly in the nose. Warmth/decanting brings out sweet chocolate. Charred ash-wood flavor, stone fruits and raisin/dates. Bourbon alcohol burn. A brutal, charred stout flavor. Feels oily smooth, thick, viscous, and burns at the swallow. A top notch Imperial stout. Thick, burnt, oily, challenging and delicious.

Had poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Oddly enough the aroma is sour and bacony. The flavor is dark roasted malt with coffee and chocolate backing.

Weak charcoal and currant aroma. Black, headless pour. Relatively strong dark chocolate and molasses flavor. Smoky charcoal finish. Flavorful and drinkable.. Rather simple for an imp stout, but delicious.

Bottle. Pours black with a ultra small tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, mild coffee, chocolate, dark fruit and a hint of molasses. Oily smooth mouthfeel. Flavor was mellow and well balanced with roasted malts, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, dark fruit and licorice with a medium to full body.

Bottle - thanks mcox90. Near black pour with a finger of creamy brown head. Aroma is a dry and sweet chocolate with light roasty notes. Tastes lightly malty with faint roast, a little cocoa, a tiny bit of molasses, and dark fruits. Kind of muddled. Just didn’t jive with this...
