Aroma is grapefruit-pine and caramel-honey. Front flavor of earthy molasses and citrus turns to a more resiny pine and citrus. Light-medium body is smooth, slightly tingly, and finishes dry. Pours a somewhat murky orange/copper color with a sizeable cream head...decent lacing. Aroma hints at grass, rose petals, hops, light citrus and some pale malts. Medium-bodied. Very strange yeasty taste to this...not necessarily in a bad way though. Some of the citrus and hop notes are there but there’s just something different I can’t put my finger on. I’m sure someone will kill me for saying this, but it tastes like a poor-man’s version of Orval in a way.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark golden with a two finger lasting head that leaves lots of lacing in the glass. Aroma is of grassy hops, perhaps somewhat stale. Flavor is bittersweet, and the aftertaste is more resiny hops. Body is a trifle thin, but not annoyingly so. Not the best IPA i’ve had, but certainly not the worst. Way better than their barlywine. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 15, 2008 12oz bottle at BeerBistro. Good thick body and effusive foamy head, darkish orange, hazy. Smells a bit of twisted citrus peel. Flavor good and hoppy with sweetness but not as complex and balanced as Sierra Nevada which is one of my faves, Finishes moderately bitter. Worth a try. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 14, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours hazy orange with big old fizzy head, one fist. Lots of carb. Nose is citrus hops (grapefruit and orange with some caramel notes, rather sweet. Taste is floral and citrus hops with a decent malt backbone, enough to balance out the hop flavor, all of this lazily slinking into a mild to moderate earthy bitter at the end. A mild astringency lurks there also. This all fades to a mild bitter into the after that loses intensity quickly, but lingers for a decent amount of time. A pretty tasty IPA. Nothing extraordinary, but solid. alexsdad06 (1096), Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Bottled. Pours a clear copper color with a medium frothy white head. The aroma is caramel malt and citrus (grapefruit and orange). Pine notes are also detectable. The flavor has a good amount of caramel maltiness and the same citrus hops as the nose. This one is pretty standard with no surprises. Medium bodied, drinkable. Sparky27 (1608), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a large frothy white head that fades into an iceberg in the middle. Nose is mainly sweet malt. Palate is overly sweet, like juicy fruit gum, with just a touch of pine hops in the finish. Decent lacing and medium mouth feel. An ok IPA, but a bit unbalanced.
