Commercial Description:
Columbus dry-hops added directly to the open fermenter uniquely characterize our IPA with an intensely robust pure-like floral aroma and resinous hop flavor. A pronounced hop bitterness is balanced by a medium-bodied, lightly caramel and toasted malt character with a nutty finish.

Cloudy amber, with a thin loose head and constant effervescence streaming up the sides of the glass. Fairly strong hop aroma combines with a bit of sour malt. Medium body, with a maltier flavor than I expected. But, finishes fairly quick. Has a bit of dishwater flavor in the finish.

12 oz bottle. First bottle clearly infected, with an unpleasant sour flavor. Clumpy grit floating around it as well. Second bottle was better. Hazy dark amber/copper with a frothy off white head. A few floaties--though the bottle doesn’t indicate that it’s unfiltered. Sheets of lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus hops and twig sap/earth. Caramel malt flavor with a sprucey and citrusy hop back. Notes of sasafrass-wintergreen. Fair balance of malt and hop. Third bottle was the best--thick lattice lacing with no particles floating around. Sturdy bumpy/craggy head. Flavor of caramel malt balanced with sasafrass/minty, spruce and grapefruit hops. From the better samples, a good IPA, though I’m not pleased with the random quality in the sixpack .

12 oz bottle. Pours out very foamy, high carbonation, very hazy medium amber, witha fluffy cloudy off white head- almost seems as if there might be a slight infection here. Aroma is old and subdued columbus and cascade hops, lemony, slight metallic, citrus and light pine sap. Flavor is a bit soapy- earthy, lemony hops, some pine, minty and a bit of dirty yeast with a subdued hop bitterness. Very light malt all around. More mint in the finihs- a bit light and watered down. There may have been a very slight infection going on here.

Arcadia India Pale Ale 12 oz bottle Unknown bottling (notched F4), shipped out 02/07. Medium pour in a tulip glass Poured a hazy dark amber with a large frothy and fluffy off-white mostly lasting head with good lacing. Smelt of strong pineapple, gummi peach candy, flowery hops, light bread. Taste was upfront moderate perfume hops and rosewater and sweet peach candy followed by a strong bitter green grassy hops and moderate bitter mushroom yeastiness on a long bitter finish. Palate was medium bodied, oily, moderately astringent and lively carbonated. Overall, this is a great English style IPA. The classic peach flavors are there. Soft and subdued British style. English IPA’s are one of my favorite styles, so a bit of a skew in the scoring, but even for the style it gets strong points.

Pretty standard stuff here, nothing really stands out. Not very hoppy at all. Pretty weak for an IPA

12 oz bottle. Pours to a slightly hazy, deep golden to light amber color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, with very fragrant aromas of piney/citrus hop paired with some earthy yeast aroma. The palate is firm, with lots of good biscuit, and caramel malt flavor, with hints of earthy/yeasty flavor. This beer finishes with more good malt and yeast flavor, then ends with a zesty, piney/citrus bitterness that lingers. Rock soild IPA. Great hop aroma, good malt character, good bitterness. Great beer to sip and enjoy, and very food friendly.

Bottle. Pleasant hop/malt aroma. Flavor of caramel malt and some piney hops. Creamy mouthfeel, and somewhat light bodied.
