The aroma is sweet hoppy with some spicy notes that stings in the nose amongst the spices are spruce. The flavor is sweet malty with quite strong notes of spruce as well as light notes of grass and oranges - reminds me mostly of a good christmas beer. The body is a bit thin. ogglethorp (887), Ohio, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2007 On tap :
The color is clear gold and the head is thin and white. The aroma is appealing with its citrusy hops and pine needles fragrance. The flavor is solid and has a nice balance between the malt and the citrusy and piney hops, it finishes mildly bitter. The body is light and creamy and the carbonation is gentle.
Cask conditioned :
The color is a hazy gold with a ring of white lace on top. The aroma is mostly like the tap version but in the flavor the hops feels more subdued. The mouthfeel is true to the cask tradition, very smooth. 7/3/7/4/14 3.5 spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 30, 2006 Bottle at Baley’s and Hop’s. Floral hoppy aroma that was not very full. The pour was a dark golden almost orange with a big lingering head (for a pale ale). The taste started out all hops with not much else to speak of. The finish was alcohol-y and acidic, but with no aftertaste. This is a very hoppy beer but doesn’t finish what it started. Average at best and this is my favorite style of beer
