Smells like a dunkelweizen, inferred from the cloves, cinnamon and chocolate malt balls wafting towards my nose. Very flavorful and surprisingly delicious. Brisk and sweet caramel joins a rich, toasty complexin the company of honey roasted peanuts. A little bit of a copper kettle twang (which is a good thing for me.) Sweet and heavy for the style. Very well-executed balance with gentle carbonation. Finishes like a caramel macchiato. Nice. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 5, 2005 A dry, buttery caramel malt aroma. Caramel, buttery, malt flavor with toasted caramel. Creamy mouthfeel supported by some hop flavor and a good bitterness that is not overdone. This beer is the equivelent of melting a Werthers Original, rolling it in hop leaves, then fermenting it. Pretty good stuff. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Aroma is of citrus, grapefruit and sweet caramel malts. Taste is mostly the same. On the palate this is medium bodied. A nice bitter finish adds to the character. Decent and worth trying for sure. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 26, 2005 Bottle... Hazy, deep amber ale with a huge, rocky, off-white head. Decent retention. Rich butter and caramel fill the nose intoxicatingly along with lesser notes of citrus fruit and brown sugar. The sweet, malty flavor is all about caramel, although there are traces of American iced tea, dry sherry and clover honey. Medium-bodied and very creamy with soft carbonation. Lengthy, cotton candy finish. There’s no balance here; it’s all about the malt. Being a bit of a malt head, I love it! dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA

Aroma is hoppy and a bit of sweet chemical sticks out. Medium bodied. Strange bitterness, nearing harsh, lingers. Fair ESB. Bigsky66 (148), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA
