I’m not a big fan of bitter beer in general, but this one is well worth trying. Only had it off the tap though so I can’t stand up for the bottle. Smells like a dunkelweizen, inferred from the cloves, cinnamon and chocolate malt balls wafting towards my nose. Very flavorful and surprisingly delicious. Brisk and sweet caramel joins a rich, toasty complexin the company of honey roasted peanuts. A little bit of a copper kettle twang (which is a good thing for me.) Sweet and heavy for the style. Very well-executed balance with gentle carbonation. Finishes like a caramel macchiato. Nice. Jfishback13 (271), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA

Prefered this to the Scottish Ale of theirs I was samling at the same time. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 26, 2005 Bottle... Hazy, deep amber ale with a huge, rocky, off-white head. Decent retention. Rich butter and caramel fill the nose intoxicatingly along with lesser notes of citrus fruit and brown sugar. The sweet, malty flavor is all about caramel, although there are traces of American iced tea, dry sherry and clover honey. Medium-bodied and very creamy with soft carbonation. Lengthy, cotton candy finish. There’s no balance here; it’s all about the malt. Being a bit of a malt head, I love it! LuckeyHaskins99 (180), Toledo, Ohio, USA

This is a beer that I know no onwe will touch in my fridge..... Bitter aftertast (What do you expect) full nose, very smooth drinking and filling. Keep your peanuts at home, this stuff is fine all by itself. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

My bottle had chunks in it after i poured it. It may have been sitting on a shelf for a while, but the taste was very good. more subtle than most ESB’s, more like a pale ale olympian (107), USA

More reserved in most characteristics than it’s more famous British counterparts, but
nice drinking, nonetheless. Beautiful beer in the glass. One of Arcadias better products.

There was also quite a fruity nose to the aroma, and a sweet taste as well. Good malt balance, very smooth to drink. I expected a little more bitterness, but can’t complain. I could relax with this beer anytime. Good job.
