Commercial Description:
Our Smoked Porter is a robust London style porter with a deep chocolate/ruby color and the subtle accent of hardwood smoked malt. This distinctive beer is brewed using no less than seven different varieties of premium European malted barley, resulting in a complex and full bodied beer characterized by hints of chocolate, coffee, caramel and beechwood smoke. The big malty finish to this beer is balanced by a solid hop bitterness and the refined English aroma and flavor of premium Goldings finishing hops.

A nice-looking porter - dark brown with red hilites, and Winston Churchill’s photo on the label. Penetrating aroma with a hint of vinegar. The coffee-tobacco flavor is so fully roasted that I almost wanted to add milk and sugar. A touch of lemon too, and solid hops in the finish. It is more dry than sweet. This is a very respectable porter.

Aroma of coffee and cocoa, darkest brown, small finger of toffee head. Flavour is bold coffee, dark chocolate. Full bodied, well balanced firmly bitter. A fine example! Thanks mds.

12 oz bottle via Mys Swap 3.0 (Thanks Hellbilly!). Man, i have been wanting to try this top-rated Porter for a couple years. Big thanks to hellbilly for sending me this one. She pours a deep deep brown, almost black with a medium sized beige head. Nose is chocolate, toasted grains and some fruity esters. Wow.........the taste is incredible for a porter. Not a favorite style of mine, but damn it would be if more of them were like this. Ok where to start....Up front there is some caramel, then some roastiness...a wonderful coffee, chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla burst of flavors, some pine, then an excellent coffee finish that lingers for just the right amount of time in the aftertaste. The body is just right. Not to dry and not too sweet, there is a perfect balance of both. Same with the carbonation. Most porters are over-carbonated to my palette, but not this one, it is spot-on. Damn this is a near perfect beer, and that is saying a lot since i do not normally go for porters!

Aroma of toasted, almost smoked, malt with chocolate notes. Coffee? Maybe. Near opaque dark brown color with some white/beige head that sort of laces. Full body with creamy carbonation. It’s smoky. There’s coffee, and chocolate, and something like not too sweet dark fruit. The finish is relatively dry, and the toast and hop bitter really pluck at the mouth. Really impressive porter.

complex indeed. this is a plum, raisin and prune type tasting brew with a very complementary chocolate infusion . the palate is a bit on the light side with a cinnamon like carbonation that is lightish to complement the full flavor . an americans idea of plum pudding. classically stylish and just wonderful it is deserving of a great one’s portrait. hardly smoky this beer is black with the brown highlights fleeting from the sight. wonderful complementary warming from a perfect alcohol volume.

On tap at Hopcat: Pours very dark with a small head. Aroma of smoked malts with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is same as aroma with a minor bitter aftertaste. Very good overall.
