Commercial Description:
Our Smoked Porter is a robust London style porter with a deep chocolate/ruby color and the subtle accent of hardwood smoked malt. This distinctive beer is brewed using no less than seven different varieties of premium European malted barley, resulting in a complex and full bodied beer characterized by hints of chocolate, coffee, caramel and beechwood smoke. The big malty finish to this beer is balanced by a solid hop bitterness and the refined English aroma and flavor of premium Goldings finishing hops.

Deep mahogany/brown under a mostly-holding tan head leaving nice lace trails. Deep roasted malt aroma with an undertow of raisin and plum. Full-bodied yet sharp in the mouth. Great coffee roast flavor backed by bittersweet chocolate. Very nice.

Pours black with a creamy two-finger dark tan head. Quite nice on the nose: toffee, caramel, roasted malt and a hint of coffee. Full-bodied and creamy with a tight bitter roasted finish. The flavor on this one isn’t timid. Bold yet sweet dark roasted malts up front, caramel, some faint chocolate, and concludes with notes of dark roasted coffee, a bit of smoke and a bite of bitterness at the end. This is great example of the style and one that I’d recommend to anyone that enjoys a good porter.

Pour is a jet black with a small than head. Aroma is a very nice roasted malt and chocolate quality. Flavor is at first chocolate then a little coffee and then the smoke hits you. Not smokey to the extreme but its there in a good way. If you have had a bad beer by this brewer don’t pass this one by its quite flavorful and robust.

12oz bottle, no date from I think puzzl, thanks Andy (if it was you. . .). Deep brown with a one finger tan head that fades to a ring fairly quickly. Aroma of roasted malts, raisins, some smoke, and some scorched caramel and dark chocolate. Dry smoked wood is more apparent in the flavor, and as far as I’m concerned it’s a good thing. Roasted malt (which is stronger than the aroma) and chocolate are also up front. The raisins are there, but more in the background. Caramel and toffee are more apparent once this warms up. Alcohol has is present and has some spiciness in the flavor as well as some warming qualities in the back of the throat, but nothing in a bad way. Moderate carbonation with a medium body. A pleasant surprise.

Thanks to Shigadeyo for trading this to me. Pours almost black with a small light tan head. Aroma is pretty big smoke, bitter malts. Flavor is also big on the smokey side along with roasted malts, raw coffee, and cocoa. Finish is smokey and bitter. Pretty good stuff. Thanks again Craig.

A delicious porter that I am suprised I overlooked. I’ve had this in my fridge a few times and somehow never tried it. Aroma is a little weak. Coffee mostly with a strong roastiness. Pour was an almost black with only a thin tan ring for a head. Taste was thick and chewy...more chewy than any porter I’ve had. Bitter coffee and burnt malt all the way. A little hops in the aftertaste, but just to balance out the onslaught of dark malt. Very nice.

12oz bottle. Dark brown opaque hue. Slight ring of off white head. Fruity raisin aromas. Smokey malts. Toasty toffee. Medium bodied with super sticky oily palate. Big toasty malty flavor. Bittersweet choclate and coffee acidity. Fruity undertones. Just enough smoke to notice, but not be completely turned off. Full on interpretation, but the f’n smoke just doesn’t do it for me! Whatever, still good drinking.
