Aroma is pretty big smoke, bitter malts. Flavor is also big on the smokey side along with roasted malts, raw coffee, and cocoa. Finish is smokey and bitter. Pretty good stuff. Thanks again Craig. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 22, 2007 A delicious porter that I am suprised I overlooked. I’ve had this in my fridge a few times and somehow never tried it. Aroma is a little weak. Coffee mostly with a strong roastiness. Pour was an almost black with only a thin tan ring for a head. Taste was thick and chewy...more chewy than any porter I’ve had. Bitter coffee and burnt malt all the way. A little hops in the aftertaste, but just to balance out the onslaught of dark malt. Very nice. sneagrams3 (1762), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2007 12oz bottle. Dark brown opaque hue. Slight ring of off white head. Fruity raisin aromas. Smokey malts. Toasty toffee. Medium bodied with super sticky oily palate. Big toasty malty flavor. Bittersweet choclate and coffee acidity. Fruity undertones. Just enough smoke to notice, but not be completely turned off. Full on interpretation, but the f’n smoke just doesn’t do it for me! Whatever, still good drinking. zeke626 (303), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2007 Bottle, poured an opaque, dark brown bubbly body with light brown/yellowish head. Nice chocolate malt aroma. Soft creamy mouthfeel with medium chocolate body. Slighly watery near the front of the palate along with some fizziness and acidity from the carbonation. Finishes with a slighly sour alcoholic taste. dankman38 (228), Somewhere in, Ohio, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 5, 2007 12 ounce bottle in a shaker. Dark brown with just glimpses of ruby on the edges. 3-tone brown head. I get some chocolate, roast from the malts. I some nice hoppy notes. I get some fruity esters. But this beer wreeks of smoke. And I love it. Same can be said of the flavor. The smoke character is wonderful. Dare I say that this is Alaskan Smoked Porter "Lite"? That’s totally meant as a compliment. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 5, 2007 This pours a thick dark brown with a creamy tan head. Nice. It has an aroma of roasted malt, dark caramel, dried dark fruits, and a hint of smoke. A floral/herbal bitterness is added to the flavor to round the taste out. Although not a huge beer, the alcohol is quite apparent in the flavor, a bit of a distraction. Still, a decent ale, all in all.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 5, 2007 Props to yjb. Pours a dark brown to black with a thin tan head. A very roasty chocolate, with some caramel malt providing sweetness. A bit of a floral hop character. This is a well balanced beer with no notable aromatic flaws. A bit of raisin. A bit acidic in the roast. Rather chocolaty indeed. Smooth creamy low carbonation, with a solid body to this. Sweet caramel over a bit of roast. Some chocolate present. A bit or slightly fruity maybe raisiny aspect. The roast gives this some acidity. This is a bit too high power to be a porter in my opinion. This is a low roast stout. A lingering bit of roast. A good lingering bit of smoke. The sweetness dries out, gives some fruit. this is a good stout, but this is just not a porter!
