Nose was rich malt. Flavor has a lot of smoke, with some dark fruit, chocolate, and coffee accentuated throughout. Nice carbonated and hoppy mouthfeel. Well balanced and enjoyable. Porters seem to be a very consistent brew in my opinion. THis one poured a nice dark pitch black. If pitch black can be a nice dark place. The smell was good as was the taste. The mouthfeel was very smooth. This is a very drinkable brew. chimplechamp (465), Oslo, Norway
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2007 just picked up from BOTW treating myself after a week of heinousness... I was really excited to see that BOTW stocked arcadia now as I had some of there shipwreck over the summer and it was glorious. anyways. bottle- pours black with a smallish head that disappears quite fast. Smells slightly sweet. coffee. smoked malts and wood, and very vaguely of chocolate mixed with alcohol. tastes very creamy on the palate with a finish that never quite ends. Bitter up front, smoked wood, with a sort of dulling bitter chocolate following and ending with a sweet chocolate smoke flavor. quite a nice treat. gwpom (253), Akron, New York, USA

Deep color, tan head that didn’t stick around long, and a very smooth palate. Also tried a Peg Leg Imperial that was nowhere near as smooth as this. Right up there with Sierra Nevada. I will be picking this one up again. rudolf (1783), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2007 Nearly black, tiny amount of ruby light shows through. Tan head. Nose is cocoa, milky dark roast malt, dark fruits (very slight) Flavor is cocoa, milk, toffee/butterscotch. Nice bittering hops. Toffee, cocoa, milk in the finish. A very solid beer - perhaps a tiny bit too sweet. MrManning (1655), London, Ontario, Canada

Head is frother up mocha goodness and lots of tiny bubblesd with good lace. Burnt malts and singed nuts, deep dark chocolate and dank ethiopian coffee beans all play a role here in the aroma. Burnt chalky cofee beans covered in dark swiss chocolate, smoked peaty malts, and bitter american hops mixed with some earl grey tannic puckering. Finishes dusty as an old mop and as tasty as all get out. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is chocolate, caramel, and light notes of smoke. Taste is the same, very well balanced and quite flavorful for a porter. well done. Aurelius (2654), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 16, 2007 This brew had a major flaw in its astringincy. Coldwater, prune, light creosote aroma. Mishmash label, very dark brew, lacy khaki head. Unripe fruit, green nuts, roast coffee. Still, not a total loss-- average.
