The head rapidly condenses, collapsing in on itself, to a thick quarter inch. Solid webby lacing throughout the glass. Strong sweet chocolate in the aroma with some plum and coffee as well.
Strong coffee, chocolate-covered cherry, and roasted grain flavors are fairly potent. In the finish, there’s yesterday’s coffee and some alcohol. Full bodied and excellent carbonation. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2007 12 oz bottle, via joebrew. Pours an opaque dark brown body with some mahogany edges. Small brown head fell to a patchy thin covering. Aroma is chocolaty with alot of cocoa powder and roasted malt. Some light yeast, coffee, and licorice. Light hoppy notes. Flavor is classic English Porter. Well balanced chocolate and roasted malts up front with a lightly yeasty and moderately bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and quite creamy. The bottle conditioned feel is quite evident, very soft and well rounded with gentle soft carbonation. I thought that this one was quite good. After the thin fizzy Porter I just had it’s easy to appreciate a truely bottle conditioned beer like this. ogglethorp (890), Ohio, USA

Appealing aroma of smoke, chocolate and caramel. Very good flavor of smoke, chocolate and caramel. The body is light with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. A well done porter, there’s a lot of balance and harmony. GuilTTy (538), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2006 Pours a deep dark brownish black supporting a tight medium brown head. Strong coffee and roasted malt aroma. Flavor of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee and molasses with a very impressive hoppy character. Rich but not overly creamy texture and a flavorful, chocolately and hoppy finish. This is a very well crafted porter from an otherwise inconsistent brewer. TheBeerOrg (1583), Kentucky, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 16, 2006 Well, I must have gotten a beer from a different batch than most here. Poured dark brown with a crimson hue and soapy dark tan head. The aroma has some sourness, roasted malt and coffee notes. Medium / full body with subdued yet sharp carbonation. Starts with roasted malt and coffee with light underlying sourness. The finish has some spiced hops and hints of chocolate. There is a watery aspect to all of it and the flavors of everything seem about half of what they should be. I’ll try again down the road and hope for a better experience. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 8, 2006 Draft sampler at brewpub. Rating #997! Deep brown color, thin head. Average porter smell. Taste does bring that smoke up front, without being bacony. Follows up with a toffee porter roast. Then for some reason, I’m reminded of Dr. Pepper (maybe a prune fruitiness?). Hop bitterness tends to sneak up when I least expected it.
