| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 29, 2006 This was an excellent porter. Color is very dark brown. Mild carbonation with a nice creamy tan head. Aroma is milk chocolate with some subtle roasty/burnt coffee as well. There are so many great flavors dancing around in this beer. The flavor is initially like the aroma - chocolate, coffee, caramel, and some roastiness - and then goes toward well aged dark fruit - Figs, rasins, and some black cherries. The finish is slightly dry with a great subtle smokiness that hangs there. To top it off, the alcohol is extremely well hidden. This is a great porter that is quite complex and wonderful to drink!

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 7, 2006 Updated: Mar 31, 2007Earthy burnt/smoked meat dominates and other flavors are somewhat a jumbled blandness. However I tried it again, ice cold the second time, and enjoyed it much more. You need to be in the right mood for this- it is not an after dinner dessert porter with strong coffee and choclate notes. Not on par with Arcadia’s great imperial stout but not bad. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2006 On Tap @ Arcadia -- Appearance is Dark Brown/Maroon. It starst with an initial aroma of Dark Fruit such as plums with notes of roasted coffee. This flavor carries into the first few sips as well. Intense Chocolate Malt and Molassas, and Caramel. As you drink it though, it gets a little syrupy and medicinal, towards the end it was getting like cola. Overall, it was good, but I’d prefer a stout. RCL (1480), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

Super dark brown color, with a nice creamy, frothy head. Faint smells of smoke, Chocolate, and coffee. Tastes super good. I got a lot of coffee. Perfectly balanced porter. Really nice. Porters are becoming my favorite. adrian910ss (1429), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 17, 2006 Pours a black color with a quickly fading beige head. Aroma strikes your nostrils quick with smoked meat flavor and burning dry logs. Taste is very smokey as well, with slight hints of bitter chocolate, coffee, malt and liquid smoke. Better than average porter.
