Nose is roasty, burnt chocoffee, light smoke, and a bit of airy sweetness. Flavor adds licorice, raisins, and crisp hops to the mix. Full, smooth palate. Great porter. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2006 Deep in color and in flavor. Roasted cofee and caramelized malt dominate. Extremely well-balanced with a great hop finish. I was extremely impressed with this. jimrockford (49), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2006 Appearance The beer poured a cloudy orange with hints of amber, like a jar of marmalade. I poured it carefully, but you can get plenty of lingering head if you ask for it.
Aroma The smell is sweet and malty, like a mixture of fresh mown hay and light corn syrup. The aromas are very earthy, but still sweet.
FlavorThere are a number of different flavors that come though. Grains, honey, citrus, white wine, and a light sourness. It’s quite fun to try and pick them all apart.
Palate The mouthfeel is exceptional. Very smooth, thin even carbonation, and a slightly dry finish. Absolutely perfect.
Overall This beer is simple at first glance, with increasing complexity that results in a wonderful elegance. Grab a few friends and enjoy this one.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2006 Very much as advertised. Smoked malt flavor with a balanced hops finish. The aroma from this bottle was at first slightly sour, but otherwise pleasantly complex with hints of fruit, coffee and chocolate. Very nice porter. SB (317), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Dark cola like port. Thin, fast dissipating cola colored head. Aroma of chocolate, flowers, candy, and malts. Flavor of roasted coffee, chocolate and malts. Caramel aftertaste. Smokey flavors present as it warmed. Carbonation was good as I felt it on my tounge. Thin bodied, but chewy mouthfeel with a dry finish. roder60 (1030), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 23, 2006 Poured a jet black with almost no head to speak of, just a tad bit of wispy white bubbles. Aroma is full of roasty goodness, sweet rumfilled candies, and a slightly berryish finish. Flavor is bitter coffee, dark chocolate, and rummy alcohol finish. Overall, a good warmer upper for a cool spring night. zach8270 (2127), Henrietta, New York, USA
