Commercial Description:
Our Smoked Porter is a robust London style porter with a deep chocolate/ruby color and the subtle accent of hardwood smoked malt. This distinctive beer is brewed using no less than seven different varieties of premium European malted barley, resulting in a complex and full bodied beer characterized by hints of chocolate, coffee, caramel and beechwood smoke. The big malty finish to this beer is balanced by a solid hop bitterness and the refined English aroma and flavor of premium Goldings finishing hops.

Very surprised to find this high quality brew, seemingly lost amid the average middle of the road beers that Arcadia tends to produce. Thiis one, however, is first rate. Very complex roasted malt flavors...caramel/toffee/coffee/chocolate/and smoke. Subtle flavor nuances abound...at one point the smoke seems to charge forward in prominance, only to recede and become merely a hint. Some floral notes evident in the finishing bitterness that tends to linger.

Pours a syrupy black with a nice light tan head. Sour, soapy, somewhat smokey aroma. The flavor is bitter chocolate, smoke , and soap. Thick over the tounge with a very dry bitterness on the finish. I enjoyed most of the parts that make up this beer, perhaps it was a little bit skunked? I’ll have to try this again sometime to know for certain and rerate is that ends up being the case.

12 oz bottle Pours black with a huge fluffy off white to tan head. Smoked malt aroma with some roast. Flavor had ome sweetness with chocolate , molassess and roast malt . The flavor almost does not seem to balance out but it does.

Good Dark beer. I am not an officianado of Porters but this beer was pleasant to drink. I got a 12-pack variety pack of Arcadia. This may be the best even though I am partial to IPA’s.

Pours cola with a tan head, nice lacing. Aroma has big roasted notes with lots of caramel, molases and chocolate. The flavor is smoke, chocolate, molases, and caramel, very rich. The mouthfeel is smooth, thick and creamy. This is absolutely the best porter I have ever had.

Tastes like the little brother of an Imperial Porter, but at over 7%, it’s no runt. Aromas and flaveors of chocolate, caramel, and coffee on the malt side, with a nice hop-bitter finish. One of the best porters I’ve had in a long time.

Dark milky black. Nose chocolate, plenty of smokiness, some molasses. Not a particularly thick porter, not watery, but very quaffable. Decent smoke, some coffee bitterness, bit of molasses. Rather fruity in the end.

If this review is a little short, it’s becuase I’m going on memory of the glass I poured last night. I thought this was very well done. In fact, it was one of the best porters I’ver had. Nice roasted flavor and the perfect amount of smokeyness. Nicely hopped as well.
