| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 31, 2009 Awesome four-finger beige head. Very slow to recede. Lumpy lace. The liquor color is dark, dark brown (nearly black). No light shines through.
Relatively mild aroma of dark chocolate and toffee. Not sweet.
Wow, lots of different flavors. The obvious ones of mocha, dark chocolate, light hop and cocoa are present. There are also some unexpected ones: banana bread, dark cherry, and cream. The finish is delicious hop and cocoa. The body coats the palate, yet it is not thick.
This is an exceptional porter. The flavor is so complex and the combination of elements so rich that it is hard to envision a better example of this style. Wow.

Aroma consists of toffee, roasted malt, perhaps chocolate and oatmeal. Taste is a very robust combination of roasted malt bitterness and chocolate/ toffee sweetness. Pours an opaque, flat black with a little white head. Sweet aroma has some chocolate and hints of smoke, toast, bread, nuts coffee. Flavor is a classic porter, nuts, coffee, toasted grains with some nice robust sweetness with a touch of maple and brown sugar. Finish is full bodied and dry. Very nice on cask. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Bottle 12oz. - Poured like dark chocolate with small tan head.
Aroma - dark fruits, soothing chocolate scent and musty wine barrels.
Flavor - molasses, chocolate and dry woodsy smoke taste!
Palate - medium bodied with thin texture. Good carbonation with lingering smokey wood taste. Dry....
Overall - The smoked wood flavor really shines through in this brew. Alot of nice and somewhat funky flavors, good beer and would try again. Capa (983), Yokosuka, Japan

Powerful molasses, roasty malts, smoke, earthy, dark fruits, chocolate, and coffee in the aroma. Silky body. Flavor is full of roasted malts, chocolate, some smoke, dark, ripe fruit. berries, coffee, and molasses. An intense and wonderfully brewed porter. Narnad (696), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Pours from the bottle a deep black with some rust red highlights when light shown through with a big, creamy, tan head. Aroma has a mild chocolate malt note, a pretty smokey profile but it reminds me of a fine cigar - semi-woody, semi-sweet for smoke; a mild black patent roasted presence is there as well and the nose is rounded out by some sweet caramel and a nice coffee bitterness. Flavor has a strong chocolate, very dry bitter coffee note in the middle, a mild woody note toward the end with a quick sweet smokey ending. Heavy body, creamy texture and a moderate amount of carbonation leaving some good lacing. Overall a complex brew that really works and is very enjoyable. punkrkr27 (634), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Black pour with a big, fluffy, tan head. The aroma is mostly mild cocoa with just a few hints of coffee and smoke. Wow for such a subtle the aroma the flavor is immensely assertive. Some dark fruit and chocolate hit my tongue first but then quickly overtaken by smoke, coffee, dark cherries, an oatmeal stout like creaminess, and strong, astringent bitterness in the finish. The body is creamy and full with soft carbonation.
