Arcadia Nut Brown Ale

Extremely tinny lime smell. Brown pour with floaties and thin tan head. Soapy lime flavor. Light bark and grass finish. Thinnish mouthfeel. Hardly like any brown ale I’ve ever had. Amber? Maybe.

12oz bottle. opens with a huge thumph, loadest opening i’ve ever heard. and of course a gusher. reddish brown with huge foamy head. nose is sourish but kind of nice. obviously infected. flavor is the same, an odd and actually palesant sour nutty biscuity flavor. almost like JP la roja. weird infection that turns out pretty good but not what this is supposed to be.

From the bottle. Flavors of nuttiness and warm dark malts. Light on the finish, doesn’t stick as much as you would think.

12 oz. bottle from relatives. Pours a clear brown color with a small disappearing beige head. The aroma is lightly nutty with mild chocolate and caramel appearing as well. The flavor is moderately sweet caramel with hints of chocolate and nuts. Thin and watery. Not much to the finish of this one as it fades away quickly.

Pours a nice dark brown, with a minimal head. Good smooth earthy flavor. Medium body nutty finish. Good drinkable beer but not outstanding.

Pours dark brown with reddish hues and a mostly receding wispy tan head. Slight to moderate infection, probably lactobacillus, although I think it makes the beer more interesting. Aroma of barnyard, nuts, cherry, raisins, and tart acidity. Taste is light toffee, earthy malt and tart lactic acid. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with lush carbonation, although the bacteria might have thinned this out a bit. Either poor quality control or this bottle is just old. No way to know since there’s no bottling date.

Not a bad beer, but like most Arcadia beers, not the best in it’s class. I’m transferring this beer from an old account.

12oz Bottle. Aroma dominated by nutty, caramelized malt character. Salty and lain with wood. Hops minimal and noble. Light ester production yields a slight mineral profile to the nose. Pleasant ruddy brown pour, lightly hazed and with a well-retained mixed soap of banana flesh. Flavor initially produces a vegetal sensation, some yeast meat, and a lightly astringent grain definition. Malt plays as lightly nutty, there maybe be fair amount of diacetyl here, and some off esters. Hops are minimal in the flavor profile, with a light euro grassiness. Balance is misaligned by the grain astringency. Lightly sweet. Malt flavor not well defined, rich, or enjoyable enough. Finishes salty. Mouth feel is a bit thin and watery. Glassy. Carbonation is on par. No real warmth, which is fine. Astringency real blows this beer out. Generally, there’s not enough desirable malt character. I want something beaming with caramelization, toast, and nuttiness. This has light washes of that, but nothing that I would get excited about. Very lackluster. Yeast and ester profiles only confuse. This beer gives me a sense that the ingredients weren’t worth using. Very mediocre.
