Commercial Description:
Our Nut Brown Ale is a full bodied English-style brown ale with a deep mahogany color. We use six different types of premium malted barley to create a flavor that includes hints of chocolate, raisins, dates and almonds. The malty sweet finish is balanced by a smooth bitterness and a subtle fruitiness in flavor and hop aroma.

absent aroma, clear, drak garnet appearance. chocolate, caramel and slightly nutty. Good flavor but WAY too much carbonation.

It has a transparent brown color and a decent thick head. The flavor is rich with notes of, maple syrup, nuts and malty goodness. I enjoyed this nut brown, definatly worth a try.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a thin skin of off-white bubbles. The nose is sweet and malty with a faint nutty note and supporting notes of light tobacco and caramel. It is light-bodied with fine carbonation and a tight, fairly crisp finish. Toasty caramel malt with a mildly lingering nutty finish. Fairly simple but nice.

Dark brown body with a rocky off white head. Mostly a caramel, brown sugar malt aroma with a hint of raisins and maybe a slight whiff of nuts. The taste was malty as expected, but there was a bit of ginger and maybe some cinnamon in there too. I got a bit of the nuttiness too, but only subtly. Not shabby.

Found this one bottled at Binny’s in St. Charles, Illinois. Cloudy, dark red pour with a thick tan head and a somewhat offputting, soapy character in the nose. The taste is quite yeasty with some bitter cocoa. Finishes dry. Probably the worst of the four I tried.

Bottled. Chocolately brown, with a thick head that dissipates fast. Hints of soap, but mosly cocoa-y nose (unrefined chocolate) on nose. Rich cocoa flavor, yeasty with a dry finish.

Bottle: Brown in color with an amber hue and a thin tan head. Funky aroma with some tartness, almost seems acidic. Under that there’s a light hint of nutty malt when it warms. Has a light tartness in the flavor as well. Seems like lactic cultures or something. After the initial, uninviting tartness is only a hint of roasted, grainy crystal malt in the finish. A bit strange and out of balance.

Rated 1/21/07: Brown-amber pour with a filmy tan head, little to no lacing. Enticing aroma lots of brown sugar and caramel. Medium bodied, kind of fizzy in the mouth, relatively smooth finish. Flavor is a reminder of the aroma, on the sweet side with a touch of sugary goodness, decent malt content. There aren’t any prominant hop flavors present, this one seems to rely on the malt which is fine in a brown.
