Commercial Description:
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

12 oz bottle. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby with a high carbonation with very tiny beading and a thin head- and no lace. Aroma is tons of caramel, light plastic, toffee, moderate solvent and some harsh high fermentation temp fusels. Fruity flavor and caramel malts, some nuts, dried fruits- raisins and apple. Medium mouthfeel and finish- seems a bit short and nothing too complex, but at least it wasnt infected like some of their other beers.

Pours dark brown with reddish hues. Aroma of toffee, vinous malt, plums, and chocolate. Taste is vinous maltiness, peat, light chocolate and earthy notes. Mouthfeel is full bodied, lightly sticky with soft carbonation. A good beer for the nightcap.

Bottle. Near black pour. Highly carbonated but no head- looks like a Diet Coke. Malty aroma with a whiff of something metallic. First taste is too sweet, and it’s missing that scotch smokiness and slight bitterness at the end. After 5 minutes all the carbonation is now gone and I’m left with the syrupy remains in my glass. Not happy with this one.

12oz from River City Cellars, Richmond. Gusher! Got a very sharp, hoppy presence to it from the get-go, which was a bit of a surprise. There are some pleasant caramel malts in there for sure, and some dark fruits to boot. But this one’s mostly fizzed up, with a noticeable boozy kick. Not bad.

Thanks to maniac for bringing this along as a wrap up beer for our BJCP training. Dark amber, clear but for some floaties, good head. Aroma of caramel and light alcohol. Flavor is estery and sweet, lots of raisin and caramel. Decent.

Bottle at Chris´s, october 07. Fruity, a bit faint aroma. Raisiny, fruity flavor, mild and warming. Clear copper color with almost no head. Medium mouthfeel, nice but a bit empty and meaningless. Ok amber ale.

deep brown with huge fluffy head with the color of chestnut, it has fruity nose with a hint of soap. this brew feels a bit young and leave a unbalanced bitter aftertaste. the flavor is sweet and malty.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris O’s Fukito tasting.
Semi translucent red borwn with a slim off white head. Sweet fruity malt aroma with some alcohol, lots of berries and some slight soap. More sweet malt in the flavour, lots of yeast and some spice. Quite dry which is a little unexpected. Some slight smoky notes. Just really doesn’t work for me.
