Commercial Description:
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

Opaque, dark brown color, but pretty clean. The aroma is doughy with very sweet malt. Alc. and sweet malt the first things that hit me which then subsided to nice bananna. Well carbonated with a med. to thick body. Overall pretty solid.

Poured a clear deep brown tinted amber color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma is quite off. Aromas of leather and celery. Some tartness. The flavor is better than the aroma. Malty and peaty with a moderately bitter dry finish.

Poured a very dark brown with some red hues, not much head. Aroma has a muddy peat quality to it, with some pit fruity, apple-like aromas present as well. Taste has some brown sugar qualities, some peat, but not enough. Mild dry finish. Probably a bit too sweet overall, but a good offering.

Ruddy dark amber/brown pour, mostly clear. Fully receding head, lacing nonexistent. Peated malt is detectable at a distance, mouth begins to water. I love peat. Close inspection reveals heavily toasted grains, resulting in a sweeter than average scotch ale. Smoke is also noted. Average aroma. Flavor brings more spiciness and smoke. Highly acidic for this style, though still low overall. Finishes warming and balanced, lenaing towards spicy. Creamy and spicy mouthfeel with ample and lively carbonation. Sipping this is like pecking at smoked chocolates infused with cayenne. Very quaffable and spicy.

Courtesy jayg. Dark amber/brown. Small tan cap. Nose of toasted grain, light peat, and some off colored earth. Flavor is much better with some rich malt, cocoa powder, fertile earth, and more peat. Medium/full body, just smoother than balanced. Solid.

Dark brown body with a small creamy tan head. Sweet slightly tart rum soaked fruit aroma. Sweet caramel, molassas, and rum soaked fruit flavor.

Dark reddish brown (near black) pour with a moderate head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is chocolate, smoke, peat, caramel, hint of darker fruits. First Scotch Ale I’ve had in a while that’s been really close to the style. Medium to light body with an almost creamy mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

Light bread maltyness with a large amount of banana detectable. Dark amber with a white head. Starts off malty and finishes white a slight scotch taste. Alittle bit of burn at the end of the finish.
